Based largely on word-of-mouth from over 50 packed screenings, Apparition Hill will now open in box offices runs throughout the US, Ireland and Mexico. “Audiences are responding to the film in ways we never thought imaginable,” says Mr. Bloomfield. “Most people see a film and think ‘I want to own this on DVD’ but with Apparition Hill, audience members are so moved that they are returning the same weekend and bringing friends to experience the movie. It’s amazing.” Among them are two voting members from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization responsible for deciding which films receive consideration for the Oscar award. The documentary is the fruit of a groundbreaking concept utilizing a video contest and crowd-funding campaign that sent 7 individuals to Medjugorje, a little-known village nestled in between two mountains along the border of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia to film their experiences. The film is also controversial as Medjugorje has been a hotbed of debate as millions visit the town each year to see for themselves whether the legend is true: that Mary, the actual Mother of Jesus, has appeared to a select group of natives with regularity for the last 30 years. As of yet, the Roman Catholic Church has declared no official ruling one way or another, further stoking the controversy. Amid the clamor, the film has found favor with those in the media who have reviewed it: “We often talk about our ‘journey of faith.’ Apparition Hill offers us a look at seven different journeys, each one unique and so moving, yet interconnected with the others. It’s a great microcosm of the Church – people from all walks of life, all seeking God and finding him in unexpected ways. I recommend this film to believers and non-believers alike!” - Gus Lloyd, radio personality and host of Seize the Day, SiriusXM’s Catholic Channel “With so many horror films releasing for Halloween, it’s nice to take in a dose of positive reality,” says Kidonakis. “And if there happens to be some paranormal activity thrown in there, it makes for good cinema.” Apparition Hill opens in Mexico, Ireland, and the United States on October 7th.
