Guidelines at St. Bartholomew
Requirements
The candidate, together with her family, must be active parishioners and she must be enrolled in our
CCE program for the two years prior to her quince años and continue in our CCE program for the
sacrament of Confirmation.
Quinceañera Preparations
Parents of the candidate should contact the CCE office to speak with Nellie Aguilera at 281-391-0839.
Scheduled Meetings
Quinceañera meetings are held twice a year in February and October. (Dates will be announced at a
later time.)
A parent must come to the CCE office to register their child for these meetings one month in advance.
Both parents and candidate must attend these meetings.
Mass Dates and Times
The quinceañera Mass is a group celebration and is held the fourth Saturday of the months of January,
April, July and October at 10:00 am. Keep in mind that the schedule is subject to change due to the
timing of Easter. Masses are bilingual.
Sacraments
The candidate must have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Penance and First Eucharist.
Rehearsal
Rehearsals are usually held the Friday before the Mass celebration at 5:00 pm. Both parents and the
candidate must be at the church by 4:30 pm. The rehearsal usually takes 30-45 minutes and will begin
promptly at the scheduled time.
Proper reverence is to be maintained at all times in the church and on all church property by all family
and friends attending.
Retreat
Candidates must attend a quinceañera retreat which is held at the Mount Carmel House of Prayer in
Houston. You must register six months prior to your celebration. Space is limited so you are
encouraged to register early.

Service Hours
Candidate must complete five hours of community service.
Dress Code
Dress is modest for candidate, parents and any attendees. (Clothes must reflect the occasion –
nothing too revealing can be worn. A full dress or bolero jacket must be worn.)
Items blessed during Mass
These items will be blessed during Mass – Bible, Rosary, Crown and Necklace (Medalla) of Our
Blessed Mother or a Crucifix,
Attendees
Attendees are welcome, but will not process in.
Liturgical Season
When the church is decorated for a liturgical season – the church art and environment decorations may
not be removed, moved or changed.
Fees
Church
Fees must be paid in full two months prior to the celebration.
Fees include the following; church, altar servers, coordinator, music and a stipend for the
priest.

Disclaimer
Please do not leave personal property unguarded (purses, cameras, etc.) either before or after the
quinceañera celebration or rehearsal.
NOTE: St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church is not responsible for any lost or stolen items left
on the property before, during or after the celebration.
DECORUM
St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church is a place of prayer and worship. We ask that all who enters into

PERMITTED on the premises of St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church. Loud yelling is
not permitted inside the church.
this sacred space maintain a proper respect of reverence.
Chewing gum, food, drinks and smoking are also forbidden in the church.
The candidate and parents are responsible for relaying all guidelines on decorum to the family
members who will be in attendance.
Church Environment
Flowers for the Blessed Mother Mary
Since the area where the flowers are to be placed for our Blessed Mother Mary is very small, we ask
the family to use a small vase with very little water and 2-4 red roses or long stem roses wrapped in
ribbon.
Flowers and Decorations
Remember; simplicity is best. No flowers petals, rice, birdseed or bubbles are allowed to be thrown
anywhere on the church property (not inside or outside of the church). No tape (scotch or masking) is to
be placed on the pews. An arch of flowers is not permitted.
Photography and Video
Information on the photographer and Videographer will be in your package. We ask that you contact
them to schedule the pictures for your Mass celebration.
Flash photography is only permitted for those pictures take
Flash photography is only permitted for those pictures taken before or after the celebration. The
photographer must be finished with all pictures at least 20 minutes before Mass begins.
Photographers are NOT ALLOWED ON THE ALTAR AREA during the celebration. Video cameras may
be set in a designated area ONLY if there is an operator.
Camera operators are NOT ALLOWED ON THE ALTAR. Special lighting is not allowed for video
cameras.
The photographer should consult with the coordinator upon arrival. Pictures may be taken 45 minutes
before the Mass begins.
On Your Quinceañera Day
The candidate, together with the parents, must arrive 45 minutes before the Mass begins.
Other family members should arrive 30 minutes before Mass.
Your quinceañera is a time of rejoicing,
giving thanks to God.
A time to share with friends, relatives and
especially your parents who are responsible
for guiding you.
We pray that the Lord will give you the strength
to overcome the temptations of the world and
make you a good example of
“today’s teenager.”
