Dear Senior Cardinals & Families~
For the past several years the Wallin Education Partners have awarded scholarships to Coon Rapids High
School students. Last year SIX Coon Rapids High School seniors were awarded $16,000 (4 per year) to help
cover the cost of college tuition. The program is very competitive. You are receiving this invite because you
have an unweighted GPA of 2.9 or greater. (The cut off is 3.0 but trimester 1 grades are not on your
transcripts yet. Please check AHConnect/Naviance for your GPA after grades have been posted/recorded to
your transcripts.) YOU NEED A 3.0 OR BETTER GRADE POINT TO APPLY.
Please read carefully the eligibility requirements listed below.
Eligibility
Minimum eligibility requirements are:





Senior at a partnering high school (CRHS is a partnering school).
Unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. (Check AHConnet/Naviance)
Composite ACT score of 19 or higher. (need a copy of your ACT results)
Applied to at least one eligible college or university. These are accredited, four-year, public or private
(not for-profit) institutions in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, or South Dakota or one of the
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Awards must be used at one of these institutions.
Family taxable income of $75,000 or less in 2014 with low to moderate assets (proof of income and assets is
required). Taxable income is found on line 43 of the 1040 Form, line 27 of the 1040A form, or line 6 of
the 1040EZ form; please note that this is not total wages/earnings or adjusted gross income, which are
usually much higher.
We do consider special family circumstances in making financial eligibility determinations.
Please check in with your parents regarding your family financial situation prior to moving forward on the
application process. Specific information regarding this scholarship is located in Naviance in the “College” tab

Career Center link under “support” at our CRHS Home page. I will also be holding 30 minute information
sessions in the CRHS Career Center room 212 to help clarify some of the details and answer any questions.

ALSO. . January 19th from 4:30-6:30p I will also be holding in the CRHS Career Center a Wallin Scholarship
Workshop for students to attend to receive guidance/assistance on the application process. Please RSVP for
this opportunity. I am working on the CRHS “writing center” to open to assist you on the essay portion of
the application. The deadline for application is February 1, 2016.
