ACADEMICS:

WCCS offers a traditional, college-preparatory program of studies on an eight-period a day semester
schedule.
WCCS is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). WCCS is also a member of the Southern Association for
College Admissions Counseling (SACAC) and North American Coalition for Christian Admissions
Professionals (NACCAP).
During each 18 week semester, six out of the student’s eight courses must be academic.
To calculate student’s GPA, WCCS uses the South Carolina Uniform Grading Scale. (For more

Grading Scale: A (93 – 100); B (85 – 92); C (77 – 84); D (70 – 76)

universities according to The College Preparatory Course Prerequisites. Physical Science and Human
Anatomy are NOT considered laboratory sciences. WCCS offers Biology, Chemistry, Environmental
Science, and Physics as laboratory sciences.
In addition:
 60 hours of Community Service are required for graduation
 National Honors Society is by invitation

College and Career Guidance and Academic Counseling
Objectives:
9th Grade: Focus on Study Skills and Academics. Required to take the PSAT. Individual meeting to develop
four year high school plan and talk about what student plans to do after graduation.
10th Grade: Focus on Career Exploration and what gifts are. Required to take the PSAT. Career project with
English Class.
11th Grade: Focus on College Exploration. Visiting prospective colleges, preparing resumes, and taking the
SAT and ACT. Required to take PSAT – scholarship consideration.
12th Grade: Focus on applying to colleges. Continue taking SAT and ACT. Courses taken in 12 th grade should
be a continuation of their academics.
Definitions:
PSAT
Pre-curser to the SAT. Juniors can receive scholarships through the NMSQT (National Merit) for
high scores.
