Introduction to Talent Match
Talent Match is a £1.2 million project funded by the BIG Lottery Fund over a flexible five year period
(starting in 2014) that has been awarded in Greater Lincolnshire to support young people aged 1824 who have been unemployed over 12 months. This is delivered by Youth Advocates employed
by Princes Trust and Barnardos who offer 1-1 continual support in 4 areas:
Boston, Gainsborough, Lincoln, and Skegness.
By working with young people, employers and organisations grounded in the community, Talent
Match will help young people not only find work but achieve meaningful and sustainable jobs and
opportunities and help those facing the biggest barriers to overcome them.
Talent Match will constantly evolve and change to ensure the young people across the county have
the opportunity to access support/delivery that they want in their area, this will take place by them
commissioning the services they require.
The Talent Match Young People
This is being coordinated by TaylorITEX CIC and will be a group of young people aged 17 – 25 from
across Greater Lincolnshire who are motivated and passionate about “driving change” and improving
the opportunities for young people who are either unemployed, have experience of being
unemployed, or who know other young people that are unemployed.
The Greater Lincolnshire Talent Match Young People will be closely involved in the strategy of the
Greater Lincolnshire Talent Match programme and will be involved in all aspects of the programme’s
management. You can have a role in the structuring and the development of the Talent Match
Context of the Role:
The Talent Match Area Ambassador is a pivotal role in establishing a strong and significant network of
young people across Lincolnshire. Responsible for engaging, signposting and communicating with
young people, who are isolated, have not been or experience of not being in education or work for
over a year, to reach young people in their local communities and local agencies you will be tasked
with raising awareness of Talent Match provision across the given area and Greater Lincs as a
whole.
Context of the Role (Cont.):
Focusing on the establishing and organising of a team of young people who are proactive in the
development of a Network and to promote positive activities for young people in their area and across
Greater Lincolnshire.
Working with other young people, local and regional organisations and agencies you will plan and
coordinate training, workshops, group events, and activities that will promote positive experiences that
have been identified by young people:
 Undertake training to support progression
 Lead on evaluation activities in your area
 Lead on service mapping in your area
 Support and develop marketing activities in local area

Detailed Responsibilities:



Actively engage young people in order to increase awareness of Talent Match
Promote Talent Match through a variety of mediums: Web Site, Social Media, working closely
with TM marketing lead
Develop, manage and maintain effective relationships with young people, agencies and
partner organisations to identify key issues, needs, and barriers effecting young people in their
area by evaluating and mapping, and supporting working groups.

Generate and manage working groups, training sessions, and young people activities.

Work closely with colleagues and with Talent Match Youth Advocates

Undertake research on specific geographic areas by working with partner organisations to
gain an understanding of needs and related provision currently available to young people.

Maintain accurate and up to date records, paper and electronic, submitting relevant paperwork
within given timeframes, as required

Understand and apply the requirements of policies for working with young people, Health and
Safety and Safeguarding.

Attend all necessary internal/external training courses and meetings as required

Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required as appropriate on activities relevant to
area of responsibility

Complete goal setting and professional development as required

