Declarations of love 2017

Valentines love song game
The objective of the game is to collect four love songs in the category that your team represents (e.g.
the Lonely Hearts team is collecting Beatles songs). For each song the team collects, they are given a
‘love token’ (a fish).
Each team calls out a number from the grid and the game master, St Valentine, reports which category
that number is in. If it is the right category for that team, a verse from the love song that matches that
number will be read out by an assigned reader and all teams should cross out that number on their grid
so they don’t choose it again by mistake. If the category is wrong for the team that chose the number,
no verse is read out and it is the next team’s turn.
Teams are also advised to circle any number called out by another team if it actually belongs to your
category, so you can call it out when it is your turn.
The first team to get four love tokens is the winner of the game, and the game is over when all teams
have their tokens and all verses have been read.

DANCING QUEENS
I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do
****************
(ABBA)
Love me or leave me, make your choice but believe me
I love you
I do, I do, I do, I do, I do
I can't conceal it, don't you see, can't you feel it?
Don't you too?
I do, I do, I do, I do, I do
Waterloo
(ABBA)
My, my, I tried to hold you back but you were stronger
Oh yeah, and now it seems my only chance is giving up the fight
And how could I ever refuse
I feel like I win when I lose
Waterloo - couldn't escape if I wanted to
Waterloo - knowing my fate is to be with you
Waterloo - finally facing my Waterloo
Lay All Your Love On Me
(ABBA)
I wasn't jealous before we met
Now every woman I see is a potential threat
And I'm possessive, it isn't nice
You've heard me saying that smoking was my only vice
But now it isn't true
Now everything is new
Don't go wasting your emotion
Lay all your love on me
Two For The Price Of One
album: The Visitors (1981)
I can't forget what I read: “If you dream of the girl for you
Then call us and get two, for the price of one”
I called the number and a voice said, "Alice Whiting"
The voice was husky and it sounded quite exciting
I said, “I read your ad, it sounded rather thrilling
I think a meeting could be mutually fulfilling
Why don't we meet for a chat
The three of us in my flat?”
She said, "I'm sure we must be perfect for each other
And if you doubt it you'll be certain when you meet my mother"
(ABBA)

LONELY HEARTS
****************
Hey Jude
(The Beatles)
Hey Jude, don't make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let me into your heart,
Then we can start to make it better.
All My Loving
(The Beatles)
I'll pretend that I'm kissing
The lips I am missing
And hope that my dreams will come true
And then while I'm away
I'll write home every day
And I'll send all my loving to you
I Need You
(The Beatles)
I don't need a lot of things, I can get by with nothing
With all the blessings life can bring, I've always needed something
But I've got all I want when it comes to loving you
You're my only reason, you're my only truth
I need you like water, like breath, like rain
I need you like mercy from heaven's gate
When I’m Sixty-Four
I could be handy, mending a fuse
When your lights have gone
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride
Doing the garden, digging the weeds
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?
(The Beatles)

CUPID’S BOW
Time After Time
****************
(Margaret Whiting)
Time after time I tell myself that I'm so lucky to be loving you.
So lucky to be the one you run to see in the evening, when the day is through.
I only know what I know the passing years will show you've kept my love so young, so new.
And time after time you'll hear me say that I'm so lucky to be loving you.
All of Me
(John Legend)
How many times do I have to tell you even when you’re crying you’re beautiful too?
The world is beating you down, I’m around through every mood.
You’re my downfall, you’re my muse, my worst distraction, my rhythm and blues.
I can’t stop singing, it’s ringing, in my head for you.
My head’s under water but I’m breathing fine. You’re crazy and I’m out of my mind!
Cause all of me loves all of you. Love your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections.
Give your all to me, I’ll give my all to you, you're my end and my beginning,
even when I lose I’m winning. 'Cause I give you all of me and you give me all of you.
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
(Roberta Flack)
The first time ever I saw your face I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and endless skies, my love
To the dark and empty skies
Napoleon to Josephine
Though I have an admiration for your charming resignation
(there appears no limitation to your constant animation)
And deep appreciation of your warm cooperation,
And I find a consolation in the pleasing contemplation
Of a coy anticipation quite beyond articulation.
Yet forgive the implication if I plead disinclination
For the sweet exhilaration of a brief amalgamation.
I’ll tell you in a phrase, my sweet, exactly what I mean
- Not tonight Josephine!
(Colin Curzon)
**************** ONE NIGHT STANDS ****************
I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight
(Bob Dylan)
Close your eyes, close the door
You don't have to worry any more
I'll be your baby tonight
Kick your shoes off, do not fear,
Bring that bottle over here.
I'll be your baby tonight.
Light My Fire
(The Doors)
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
Let’s Spend the Night Together
(Rolling Stones)
This doesn't happen to me everyday
No excuses offered anyway
I'll satisfy your every need
And I now know you will satisfy me
Let's spend the night together
Now ...
Two out of Three Ain't Bad
And all I can do is keep on telling you
I want you (I want you),
I need you (I need you),
But there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you
Now don't be sad (don't be sad)
'Cause two out of three ain't bad
(Meatloaf - 1)

TRANSPORTED BY LOVE ****************
Brand New Key
(Melanie)
Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates, you got a brand new key
I think that we should get together and try them out, you see
I been looking around awhile, you got something for me
Oh, I got a brand new pair of roller skates, you got a brand new key
If You Were A Sailboat
(Katie Melua)
If you were a cowboy I would trail you,
If you were a piece of wood I'd nail you to the floor.
If you were a sailboat I would sail you to the shore.
If you were a river I would swim you,
If you were a house I would live in you all my days.
If you were a preacher I'd begin to change my ways.
Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two)
(Harry Dacre, 1892)
Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do
I'm half crazy all for the love of you
It won't be a stylish marriage
I can't afford a carriage
But you'll look sweet upon the seat
Of a bicycle built for two
Fly Me to the Moon
Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like on
Jupiter and Mars
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you
(Frank Sinatra)
****************
SECRET ADMIRERS ****************
Your Song
(Elton John)
Excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen
I'd Lie for You and That's the Truth
(Meatloaf - 2)
I'd lie for you and that's the truth
Move mountains if you want me to
I'd walk across the fire for you
I'd walk on the wild for you
If you'd just believe in me
Falling in Love Again
(Marlene Dietrich)
Falling in love again
Never wanted to
What am I to do?
I can't help it
Love's always been my game
Play it how I may
I was made that way
I can't help it
Can't Help Falling In Love
Wise men say only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay? Would it be a sin?
Like a river flows, surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes - some things are meant to be.
Take my hand, take my whole life, too
For I can't help falling in love with you
(Elvis)

TRUE LOVES
Howard to Bernadette
****************
(from the TV series Big Bang Theory)
If I didn’t have you, life would be blue
I’d be Doctor Who without the TARDIS
A candle without a wick, a Watson without a Crick
I’d be cheese without the mac,
Steve Jobs without the Wozniak
I’d be an atom without a bomb, a dot without the com
And I’d probably still live with my mom
Only You
(The Platters)
Only you can make this world seem right
Only you can make the darkness bright
Only you and you alone
Can thrill me like you do
And fill my heart with love for only you
Song for Whoever
(The Beautiful South)
Oh Shirley, oh Deborah, oh Julie, oh Jane
I wrote so many songs about you
I forget your name, I forget your name
Jennifer, Alison, Phillipa, Sue, Deborah, Annabel, too
I love you from the bottom of my pencil case
I love the way you never ask me why
I love to write about each wrinkle on your face
And I love you 'till my fountain pen runs dry
Never Seen Anything Quite Like You
Well I've seen you in jeans with no make-up on
And I've stood there in awe as your date for the prom
I'm blessed as a man to have seen you in white
But I've never seen anything quite like you tonight
(The Script)
