Instructions for Installing a Second Shelf in an Offset Smoker.
1. Place a level on the angle and locate the angle in the chamber at the right edge of the opening so it is level and
contacts the front and back of the chamber.
2. Position the upright leg of the angle flush with the edge of the opening.
3. Tack the front of the angle to the chamber.
4. Measure the distance from the end of the chamber to the inside edge of the horizontal angle.
5. Next, hold the back of angle to same distance, while keeping the angle level, and tack it in place. Note: Double
check the measurement of the front and back side of the angle before proceeding.
6. Place the angle on the angle to be installed on the left side of the chamber. Position the angle in the chamber at
the left edge of the opening, making sure that it is level and contacts the front and back of the chamber. Secure
the angle by placing a tack on the front side of the angle to the chamber.
7. Take a measurement of the inside edge of the angle at the front of the chamber.
8. Use the measurement taken in step 7 to locate the back side of the angles. Adjust the left angle to the
measurement, making sure that it is still level, and tack it in place.
9. Double check the distances from front to back and begin welding the angles in place. This picture will illustrate
where to weld on the back of the chamber to the angle. Do this on the left side as well.
10.
11. This picture illustrates where to place the weld on the front side of the angle on both sides.
12. After you have welded the angle in step 10, you will want to place another weld on the inside of the angle,
where it meets the chamber as shown in this picture.
13. Once all the welds are in place, grind the two welds smooth that were placed in step 10.
14. Paint the bare metal to prevent it from rusting.
