Microsoft Live@Edu Information for Students General Overview As a student of the Rainy River District School Board you are being provided access to Microsoft’s Live@EDU online services to assist you in Academic career. Live@EDU services that will are being provided are: • • • Email+Calendar SkyDrive Microsoft Office Web Apps Email+Calendar The email service is provided through Outlook Live, which is a web-enabled version of the popular Outlook email program. This will provide you with a 10GB Inbox. Please note, Outlook Live email accounts may be monitored as per policies and procedures as referenced in the Information/Communication Technology Use Policy of the Rainy River District School Board. SkyDrive Provides 25GB of free online storage and will allow you to store, access and even share files with classmates, from anywhere online. Microsoft Office Web Apps You will now be able to access Microsoft Office applications from virtually anywhere through the Internet. Office Web Apps that are available through this service are: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Links Service Outlook Live SkyDrive Office Web Apps Microsoft Live@Edu for Students URL https://outlook.com http://skydrive.live.com https://outlook.com Page 1 Windows Live ID In order to access the Live@Edu services, you will be required to enter a Windows Live ID and password. Your Windows Live ID is your [email protected] e.g. [email protected] Your password is the same as your Novell e-directory password Your email address is: [email protected] User Password Self-Management By default, your account has been setup with the same password as what is used for your Novell login, which is now a minimum of six characters. There is a self-management tool available to you for resetting your password in the event you forget it. However, you must either set up location information and a secret question/answer, or add a secondary email address to send new passwords to. If you wish to have password self-management, complete this process: • Sign in to the Live account service site at http://accounts.live.com (or, if you are already logged in to your Live@Edu account, click Home, scroll to bottom of the page, then click Account on the bottom right of the page to go to the Account window) o o Click Change for the "Profile details Question Set a default question and/or Click Add for the "Windows Live options Alternate e-mail address Microsoft Live@Edu for Students Page 2 o Click Save when done Microsoft Live@Edu for Students Page 3 Connecting to Live@EDU - Email Using an internet browser enter the URL: https://outlook.com Enter your Windows Live ID and password and click on Sign-In provided You will be dropped in you Outlook Live mailbox. The screen will look something like: Microsoft Live@Edu for Students Page 4 Connecting to SkyDrive To connect to SkyDrive enter the following URL into the address bar of the browser window: http://skydrive.live.com Enter a Windows Live ID and password if you are not logged in to another Live@EDU service. The SkyDrive Screen will be similar to: Accessing Microsoft Office Web Apps Office Web Apps can be accessed from directly within the Outlook Mailbox. Go to https://outlook.com and enter a Windows Live ID and password.
