ONLY THE SENSOR TIP IS WATER RESISTANT, THE DEVICE ITSELF IS NOT WATER RESISTANT. Protect it against exposure to water and other types of liquids 2. Do not expose the thermometer to direct sunlight. T ase 3. Store thermometer in its case and keep out of reach of children. The optimum temperature for storing the thermometer is between 68°F and 122°F (20°C and 50°C) with a relative humidity about 75%. The optimum temperature for service is between 61°F and 104°F (16°C and 40°C) T 4. When measuring body temperature, the Multiscan Thermometer is designed to take readings within the ear. It should not be used to take temperature readings rectally. 5. When measuring Tliquids, food, or surface items, the Multiscan Thermometer can be held within ¼” of the object to be measured. According to extensive clinical studies, readings taken within the ear are comparable to readings taken orally by conventional thermometers. Please note that use of The Multiscan Thermometer is not a substitute for a visit to your doctor. WATER RESISTANT battery will continue to Dispose of the old batteries properly, and according to your local regulations. Warning: • Use only fresh batteries of the required type and size. • The batteries may explode if mistreated. Do not attempt to recharge or disassemble the batteries. • Depleted batteries are to be removed from the item. • Dispose of the old batteries properly, and according to your local regulations. • Ensure that batteries are kept out of reach of young children. The Multiscan Thermometer is a delicate electric device designed for reading either body temperature within the inner ear or for reading the temperature of liquids, foods, or other surfaces. Body Temperatures: When reading the inner ear body temperature, accurate and reliable readings are obtained by the infrared sensor. The temperature in the ear reflects the body’s core temperature, since veins in the eardrum connect to the part of the brain that regulates body temperature, the hypothalamus. The thermometer converts the infrared energy measured into a temperature value, however, one must take into account that body temperatures vary depending upon age and the time the reading is taken. Any body temperature readings obtained from other then the ear canal are simply for reference. Surface Temperatures: This device may also be used to measure surface temperature, for instance, liquids, food, etc. It is important to point out that when measuring liquids or foods, it is not necessary for the thermometer to be in direct contact with the material. The optimum distance between the object and the thermometer is approximately 0.2-0.39 inches (0.5-1.0 cm) Measuring Temperatures 1. Press POWER(Scan) button and thermometer will turn on and immediately perform automatic calibration. (see Fig. 1-1) 2. Selecting Memory Storage Zone (M1 or M2) for temperature measurement • Immediately after the automatic calibration function is As soon as the the M1 M1 (Memory or M2 is 1) chosen, the last measured completed, or M2 (Memory 2) symbols temperature reading will appear on the will appear on the display (see figures 2-1display. & 2-2) • To choose a different memory zone from the one displayed, quickly press the POWER (Scan) button immediately after the start-up automatic calibration function and toggle between the M1 and M2 zones. As soon as the M1 or M2 is chosen, the last measured temperature reading will appear on the display. 3.Measuring Body Temperature Introduce the thermometer into the ear; it should be positioned inside the ear in order to register the temperature (see fig. 3-1). Press and release Scan button. When you hear the audio signal remove the thermometer and read the temperature display (see fig. 3-2) 4. When reading is less than 100°F (38°C), a happy face will appear on the screen. When the reading is above 100°F (38°C), the display will show a sad face, as well as consecutive audio signals. (see fig. 4-1 and 4-2.) Measuring Surface Temperatures Temperature readings may also be taken to determine the temperature of an item (ie. Water, Milk, Formula, Food, etc.) Position the thermometer directly on the surface or within ¼” of surface, press button and release. The audio signal will confirm the reading. 6. Scanning Surface Temperatures To scan the temperature over a large surface area, press and hold the SCAN button and view the temperature reading on the thermometer display as you are scanning the surface. 7. Temperature scale of the infrared thermometer can be switched between Celsius (see fig. 7-1) and Fahrenheit (see fig. 7-2). To do so, simply turn the thermometer ON. 1.) Press and hold the SCAN button. 2.) While holding the SCAN button press and hold the MEM button. 3.) Release the MEM button while still holding the SCAN button. 4.) The measurement scale will be changed on the display. 5.) Release the SCAN button. (see fig. 8-1 and 8-2). When s (see fig. 9). (see fig. 10). non-medical Cleaning Cleaning and and Maintenance Maintenance water resistant and should be cleaned 1. Permanently indicating low temperatures - If the scan button is pressed before the sensor is placed correctly in the ear then the readings taken will be too low. - The sensor is dirty. Clean the sensor with a soft, damp cloth or with cotton swabs dipped in diluted alcohol. 2. Replace battery - Replace the button-type battery whenever the “low battery” warning symbol appears (see replacing battery). www.zadrohs.com [email protected] Rev04202010
