End of Term Letter – Term 3 2016 White Lodge Kindergarten Upper Bukit Timah Dear Parents, Term 3 has been ten weeks worth of bountiful harvest reaped from a myriad of engaging and interactive themes such as Transportation, Toys, Inventors and Inventions and books from renowned authors! Guided by the themes in focus, the lessons and events organised have contributed to the integration of our curriculum. Harnessing on the availability of the beautiful outdoor space that we have here in White Lodge Upper Bukit Timah, the highlight of this term revolves around the theme of Book Week with the introduction of the outdoor classrooms where we have brought many lessons to life! Children being the natural explorers that they are, have an intense desire for knowledge surroundings. about They their need opportunities to explore the natural world and it was through this theme, that we have discovered nature as an incredible library of knowledge. 1 Our field trip to “Marine Cove” at East Coast Park which was in line with our focus on the unit of inquiry into the inventions of Transport, was an ideal day spent with a family picnic by the beach side and watching the ships anchored in the sea. The Kindergarteners also went on an educational field trip to the National Museum to witness the exhibits at the MASAK MASAK exhibition as a wrap up to our focus on the theme of inventors and invention. This term, driven by one of our core values, ‘We Celebrate Differences,’ we experienced special days like Friendship and National Day where we all came dressed in our respective traditional clothes and red and white respectively, to mark the friendship and harmony in Singapore, a home to all of us. 2 The class presentations held this term saw the children performing audience and with speaking such up to confidence an and enthusiasm, encapsulating all the learning that we have achieved thus far. I would like to thank all of you for joining us on those days. Many wonderful events are in store for Term 4. One of our biggest celebrations at White Lodge is the United Nations Day, which will be held on Saturday, 5th November 2016, at The Jefferson Arena, 5th Floor in the Jefferson Building, 279 Upper Serangoon Road (1 Woodleigh Lane), Singapore 34769. This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to ‘share our similarities and celebrate our differences’ once again. The next highlight for term 4 is the Annual Concert to be held at Regan Theatre, Stamford American International School, 2794 Upper Serangoon Road, 1 Woodleigh Lane, Singapore 347691 on Thursday, 1st December 2016 at 10 am. We will be hosting the musical, ‘Once Upon a Lilypad’ Please mark your calendars to join us this date.
