Umm I don’t wanna give away any brilliant ideas to my students.. being the respectable role model that I

But.. as a prank to get even with my sister one time for eating MY whole packet of Oreo biscuits. I bought
another packet and scraped out the cream of the first few biscuits and filled them with toothpaste instead.
Then left the open packet in my bedroom to wait to see if I could catch her out. Let’s just say she didn’t
need to brush her teeth later that night.

You have the capacity to learn from your mistakes. So be happy to know you will be learning EVERY DAY! !

As I sat there on my big comfy chair in my cosy lounge room on a typical
Saturday night, I began to think about what I might write for this edition
of ‘The Journey of Radical Minds’. After a few hours I still hadn’t
written anything, and the battery on my laptop was starting to die. It was
in that moment that an intense debate fueled by laziness quickly erupted
in my mind. Was it really worth getting out of my chair, losing my comfy
spot and having to walk all the way to my room to get my laptop charger?
And in that moment I knew exactly what to write about – ‘First World
Problems.’
I’m assuming most of you hip young teens would know of the ‘First world
Problems’ hash tag which has recently taken over many social networking
sites such as Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook. Take for example a ‘tweet’ I
saw yesterday morning from a friend of mine “I’m so hungry and there’s no
food in this house – but I don’t want to trek it to the shops in this
heat!” accompanied by the hash tag #firstworldproblems. As I read this, I
came to a sudden realisation that so many people of the first world take
so much for granted. There he was ‘tweeting’ from his computer in his big
air conditioned house, complaining about what he doesn’t have – when
really he only has to walk five minutes down the road to the store to get
what he wants!
I guess I shouldn’t point fingers – we’ve all done it at some point or
another. But this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t appreciate what we have.
Instead of always complaining about what we don’t have, maybe it is time
that we were thankful for what we do have. In a rich and prosperous
country like Australia where so many people have everything they need,
don’t you think we should be the last ones to complain? There are millions
of men, women and children starving in third world countries within Africa
and other parts of the world every day – many of them go to sleep
wondering if they’ll eat or drink at all the next day in order to live.
The harsh reality is that many of them don’t ever live to see the next day
– and still we sit here complaining about petty ‘problems’ that aren’t
really problems at all! So next time you find yourself complaining about
what you don’t have, take a step back and think about everything you do
have.
