Director Ed Broad, Building Director Kennedy Update for Wednesday, August 8, 2012 CAMP APOLLO Carnival at Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School (POBMS) There will be regular arrival (10:00am) and dismissal (5:00pm) procedures. Campers will eat their lunch during the day. Lunches will be refrigerated. Campers will have an opportunity for free delicious cotton candy and a free ice cream or ices treat. Please do not send in items with nuts or nut by-products. There will be rides and games for all to have fun. Everyone will win a prize! There will be no swimming. Director Ed Broad, Building Director Kennedy Update for Thursday, August 9, 2012 ALL Kennedy campers will need to be in early at 9:00am for the trip to Citi Field to see a New York Mets baseball game. Please bring your camper to the Central Park Road entrance to POBMS. If you are carpooling with a POB camper, you may drop off the Kennedy camper at the main entrance of POBMS and they will be escorted to their group. We will leave at the end of the game or at 3:30; whichever comes first. We should be back in time for regular dismissal. Dismissal will as usual (5:00PM). Campers are to wear their red camp shirt. Campers will not have swimming. Lunches will not be refrigerated so please send a nonperishable peanut-free lunch in a clear plastic bag. No glass or bottles are allowed into CitiField. Campers will eat lunch before seeing the game. According to the Citi Field Security Policies & Procedures: “In order to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests, the following security procedures are in place for this season: All bags and hand carried items are searched prior to entry. Items can be no longer 16” by 16” by 8”. There are no bag-check facilities (storage lockers to hold personal items). Guests may bring in one, soft, plastic, factory-sealed water bottle of 20 ounces or less. Guests may also bring in one sealed, soft-sided child’s juice box. Prohibited Items include items that are larger than 16” by 16” by 8”; hard-sided coolers; all metal cans (including sunscreen aerosol cans), glass bottles, open containers. Citi Field reserves the right to determine what items are deemed appropriate for entry.” Other trip information: Souvenirs and refreshments are available for purchase at Citi Field. Many of our campers have nut allergies. All campers will come in at the regular time (10:00am) and will arrive back at the regular time (5:00pm). No swimming today. Campers will have lunch consisting of tomato bisque soup, focaccia bread, herb roasted chicken, ribs, potato, an apple pastry for dessert, and a soft drink. Anyone wishing a kosher meal or vegetarian meal should contact the office to ensure the meal order will be placed. The kosher meal consists of herb roasted chicken with steamed vegetables and a soft drink.
