Football Heavyweights to discuss financial transparency and
integrity at Securing Sport 2014
Emanuel de Medeiros, Umberto Gandini, Javier Tebas and Bobby Barnes confirmed
London, England; 22nd September 2014: The International Centre of Sport Security (ICSS) has
announced today that Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros (CEO of ICSS Europe and Latin America
and former CEO of the European Football Leagues - EPFL), Umberto Gandini (Vice President,
European Club Association), Javier Tebas (President, Spanish La Liga) and Bobby Barnes
(President, FIFPro / Deputy CEO of the English Professional Footballers Association) will speak
at Securing Sport 2014.
With growing concerns around the financial integrity and transparency of sport, four football
heavyweights will come together on the panel entitled “All about the Money! Financial Integrity
and Transparency in Sport “ to address a range of topics, including financial fair play, third party
ownership, corporate governance, club ownership and transparency in sport.
The panel shall be preceded by a presentation by Kimberley Morris, Head of Integrity and
Compliance at FIFA TMS, on the financial dimension of the international players’ transfer market
and the most critical challenges currently facing the financial integrity of the beautiful game.
Taking place at Lancaster House on the 6th and 7th October 2014 with the conference theme of
‘Sport under threat: the game is ours to win’, Securing Sport 2014 is an invite-only event that
will bring together ministers, high-level leaders and international experts from sport, betting,
government, civil society, law enforcement and anti‐corruption.
Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, Chief Executive of ICSS Europe and Latin America, said:
“I am glad to join three of the most senior figures from the world of football in this high-level panel.
We will definitely provide an important insight into some of the most significant issues affecting the
transparency and financial integrity of sport. I would like to thank my friends Umberto, Javier and
Bobby for agreeing to take part in Securing Sport 2014 and look forward to their valuable
contribution to this year’s event.
“With issues like third-party ownership, financial fair play and club ownership, as well as more
serious cases involving money laundering and tax evasion continuing to disrupt sport, Securing
Sport 2014 will provide a crucial moment for senior officials from sport, government and beyond to
come together and shape the future of our industry.”
Further speakers, panellists and events will be announced over the next fortnight. For more details
