ABOUT
Lock Haven University’s philosophy is “Small College Lifestyle, Big
University Education” and this spirit is very evident on the campus
with over 95% of graduates either employed in their career field or
enrolled in advanced degree programs. LHU is part of the
Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), which is
famous for it’s quality education and rigorous academic standards. At
Lock Haven, students can take advantage of over 70 undergraduate
and graduate programs in a Liberal Arts setting. Students enjoy
modern educational facilities and small class sizes - features that
allow students to thrive academically and become successful leaders.
The University sponsors over 130 clubs and organizations for the
students to participate in. In addition, the University has 8 different
intercollegiate teams competing in NCAA divisions I and II athletics.
LOCATION
The town of Lock Haven is very safe and friendly; representing the
perfect embodiment of “Small Town Americana”. Students can walk
or bike to the downtown area where there are small shops and
restaurants. The community continually hosts numerous
entertainment and cultural opportunities. Lock Haven experiences 4
distinct seasons and students are able to enjoy a wide variety of
outdoor activities including swimming, canoeing, skiing, and hiking.
The larger towns of Williamsport and State College are just 30
minutes away and the cities of New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh,
and Washington D.C. are just a few hours away by car.
