Ship-Trap Island

Ship-Trap Island
Travel Brochure
Irony is when the author leads you to believe something will happen and the opposite
actually occurs. A feature of irony in literary text is when there is a contradiction (an
inconsistency or discrepancy) between an action or expression and the context in which it happens.
Task: Create a Travel Brochure
You are a travel agent working for General Zaroff. He has hired you to entice or lure visitors to vacation on Ship- Trap
Island. Using Publisher or any other program/ template you like, you will create a travel brochure/ advertisement for
vacations at General Zaroff’s mansion on Ship- Trap Island.
You must use descriptive language that appeals to travelers. To help with this, you could view vacation websites like
www.sandals.com or www.visitflorida.com. Pay close attention to the language, amenities, activities, etc. You could also
use travel magazines or the Travel section of the newspaper for reference. Be sure to use the details and descriptions from
the story to advertise how “wonderful” this “vacation get-away” could be.
