www.jcpb.com Jan. 4th, Power Outage **FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 1/4/2015, 1:30 PM** (Johnson City, TN) The power outage that occurred early this morning, January 4, 2015, affected nearly 19,000 Johnson City Power Board (JCPB) customers. The outage was a result of a breaker operation in one of JCPB’s largest substations. According to Chief Engineering & Technology Officer, Mark Eades, “Prior to re-energizing lines, it is important to perform a series of tests to ensure no permanent damage was done to the equipment. Testing is done to prevent future outages and to minimize potentially damaging utility equipment upon re-energizing the lines.” “JCPB will continue to perform additional testing tomorrow, Monday, January 5th, to make doubly sure all equipment is functioning as it should. Our goal, as always, is to do our job to ensure customers are seldom, if ever, without electric service,” said Eades. JCPB encourages its customers to always report outages via SmartHub or by calling 423-282-5272(JCPB). Customers may also stay abreast of certain areas effected by outages by visiting JCPB’s up-to-date outage map at jcpb.com.
