Dear Incoming Third Grader,
We are looking forward to having you in third grade! We will be learning so
many wonderful things in third grade. In order to prepare for the coming school
year, we would like you to read three chapter books from the enclosed reading
list. You must choose one title from each author. You may enjoy looking at
Beverly Cleary’s website for fun and games: www.BeverlyCleary.com. We expect
you to read and enjoy these books over the summer. The library is a perfect place
to locate these titles, or your parents may purchase the books at a local
bookstore. Speak with your local librarian about choosing appropriate reading level
books. You may want to choose a few books from each author and then select your
favorites to read. We hope that you will have fun reading these books as they
prepare you for the adventures of third grade. During the first week of school, we
will be having discussions and activities about your selected books. Please bring
your Summer Reading Record Sheet the first day of school. Have a great
summer!!!
