What’s Happening in Mrs. Juliani’s Language Arts Class Week of : N ov . 2 – O ct . 6 , 2 0 1 5 This week we will finish up unit 1 activities and reflect on what we learned. I have decided to backtrack a bit on the 40 Book Challenge. I am going to 30-‐45 minutes every Friday as writing response time. I am not having many students turn in responses, so I am going to have them write one paragraph to begin and then in January I will have them write two paragraphs and in March they will have to write three paragraphs. I thought they would and should be able to write three paragraphs, but I am seeing that only a couple students are doing what is expected, so hopefully, this will help them to get responses turned in so they are not waiting and having to write and not putting thought into the response. I think this will help them out and using time in class will also be helpful, if they use their time efficiently. (We will also get back into reading 15 minutes everyday. Failure is just another way to learn how to do something right.” - Marian Wright Edelman, 1939-present Language Arts Read Aloud: Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator by Roald Dahl.
