How to arrive:

Arriving by plane: From Taoyuan National Airport to NCTU.
1. By taxi, the fare is about NTD 1500.
2. Take Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR). (http://www.thsrc.com.tw/en/?lc=en)
(1) Take the shuttle bus No.705 from airport to THSR Taoyuan Station. It takes 30-40
minutes and costs NTD 30.
(2) Take THSR from Taoyuan Station to Hsinchu Station, the train fare is about NTD
130 (10 minutes).
(3) Take taxi to NCTU, the fare is about NTD240 (20 minutes).
Arriving by train:
Take domestic train to Hsinchu Station and then transfer to NCTU stop by city bus No.2. (http://www.railway.gov.tw/en/)

Visa-Exempt Entry
1. The nationals of the following countries are eligible for the visa exemption program, which permits a duration of stay up to 90 days:Austria,
Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland,
Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New
Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K., U.S.A. and Vatican City State.
2. The nationals of the following countries are eligible for the visa exemption program, which permits a duration of stay up to 30 days:
Australia, Malaysia, Singapore.
3. The nationals of India, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, who also possess a valid visa or permanent resident certificate issued by
U.S.A., Canada, Japan, U.K., Schengen Convention countries, Australia or New Zealand, are eligible for the visa exemption program, which
permits a duration of stay up to 30 days. Those who meet the above qualification and have never been employed in Taiwan as blue-collar
workers have to apply to the “Advance Online Registration System for the Visitors of Nationals from Five Southeast Asian Countries to
Taiwan” of the R.O.C. National Immigration Agency (website: https://nas.immigration.gov.tw/nase) for an "Authorization Certificate
"before coming to Taiwan. After completion, the printed-out Certificate can be used by the foreign visitor for boarding the airplane and the
immigration inspection. During the immigration inspection, foreign visitors who cannot show a valid visa or permanent resident certificate
issued by one of the aforementioned countries will not be admitted into the R.O.C. (In case a single-entry visa issued by any of the said
countries has already been used, it is invalid.
Landing Visas
1. Holders of Bruneian Passport with validity of more than six months. (Effective from January 1, 2013)
2. Holders of emergency or temporary passports with validity more than six months for nationals of those countries eligible for visa-exempt
entry.
3. Holders of USA passport with validity less than six months.

1. 17 Kilometers Coastline Scenic Area
The sightseeing points along the 17KM of Splendid Coastline Scenic
Area in Hsinchu City are listed in the following sequence: the Nanlio

spiritual-cultivation, and make Hsinchu City into a well-known tourism base.
2. Green Grass Lake
Also known as the Ching-Tsao Lake, this scenic spot is highly popular amongst couples - so popular in fact, some have been known to
propose to their lovers by the lake. Throughout the years, sedimentation of soil caused some parts of the lake to deteriorate, but the Hsinchu
government is taking proactive steps to restore it to its original beauty.

3. Hsinchu Glass Craft Museum
It is no secret that Hsinchu is well known for its long glass-making history. Originally
the Hsinchu Civic Hall, the complex has undergone remodeling and is now the
Hsinchu Glass Craft Museum. The museum features a well-maintained exhibition
area where travelers can view exquisite glass pieces, a workshop where artisans craft
their masterpieces, a well-stocked library as well as a souvenir shop that sells
delightful pieces of glass handicrafts specially created by adept artisans.

4. Municipal Image Museum
In the 1930s the museum was the first theatre to be equipped with air conditioning in
Taiwan. After the Japanese occupation ended, the government refurbished the
complex and it became a popular cultural hub in Hsinchu where regular
performances and shows are held. Travelers can visit the museum to learn more
about its history or even grab a ticket to an old classical movie.

5. Hsinchu City Eastern Gate
Originally built of wood, Hsinchu City's Eastern Gate has
since been renovated in concrete, and the only original part
of the construction is the granite base. This gate is often
referred to as 'the heart of Hsinchu,' due in part to an ancient
chronicle of the city that was once displayed at the gate.
Despite lavish refurbishments, this gate provides an air of
nostalgia that extends back several generations to the city's
historic beginnings.

6. Chen Huang Temple in Hsinchu
Built in the mid-18th century, this temple was commissioned by an officer of Tamshuen Jen Z-ing. The temple is fronted by a pair of
stone-carved lions and is otherwise characterised by delicate wood carvings. Inside, it is possible to spend an hour or more simply admiring
the intricately-crafted decor. This is a busy attraction ideal for people-watching in a local environment. Onsite are several vendors selling
Hsinchu-style snacks and traditional souvenirs to visitors.
