Originally the Hsinchu Civic Hall, the complex has undergone remodeling and is now the Hsinchu Glass Craft Museum. The museum features a well-maintained exhibition area where travelers can view exquisite glass pieces, a workshop where artisans craft their masterpieces, a well-stocked library as well as a souvenir shop that sells delightful pieces of glass handicrafts specially created by adept artisans. Municipal Image Museum In the 1930s the museum was the first theatre to be equipped with air conditioning in Taiwan. After the Japanese occupation ended, the government refurbished the complex and it became a popular cultural hub in Hsinchu where regular performances and shows are held. Travelers can visit the museum to learn more about its history or even grab a ticket to an old classical movie. Hsinchu City Eastern Gate Originally built of wood, Hsinchu City's Eastern Gate has since been renovated in concrete, and the only original part of the construction is the granite base. This gate is often referred to as 'the heart of Hsinchu,' due in part to an ancient chronicle of the city that was once displayed at the gate. Chen Huang Temple in Hsinchu Built in the mid-18th century, this temple was commissioned by an officer of Tamshuen Jen Z-ing.
