Term 2, Week 6; 26th May 2014 Welcome to Outside School Hours Care newsletter, firstly I would like to start with a quote from My Time Our Place; Quote of the week: Children confidently explore and engage with social and physical environments through relationships and play. Children initiate and join in play and leisure activities. Children are open to new challenges and discoveries. This week we played tennis and lots of it. Miss Kadie set up the net outside and inside the hall for us to have a game. We played in pairs and as a single players. As in a small space we had to hit the ball under arm and had a few different rules….. We played first to five is the winner, you could hit the ball as many times as you like, the ball could bounce as many times in your side as it likes, anybody could serve. Lots of laughs and fun with this activity and we all had fun putting packing away and setting up the net for the afternoon. This week was the week for suggestions on our creative sides and stepped out of the our comfort zone to try something new. With suggestions from Harrison and Cameron this week we made “Pizza with pineapple” and “cup cakes with passion fruit and purple icing”. Pizza with Pineapple: to continue on from our fruit pizza from last week we made normal pizza with pineapple . We used English muffins for the base, BBQ or tomato sauce, ham, pineapple and cheese. They tasted great, very yummy. We have all agreed that we need to make pizzas again. Cup cakes with passion fruit and purple icing: Cameron asked if we could make some cup cakes with passion fruit in them and they HAD to have purple icing. We used a vanilla cake mix, passion fruit pulp and icing with purple colouring. We did have a few of our friends that didn't want any passion fruit in their cakes so we made a few without but either way they were a BIG hit and everyone has asked if we can make them again. Master chef has come to OSHC, can’t wait to see what we create next!! Pizza with pineapple Cup cakes with passion fruit and purple icing Who knew that something so simple would be so fun to play with? A car mat and match box cars of course!! We combined the car mat with the wooden train tracks and trains to create this great road and village to play with. We all worked together to build this and had fun driving the cars around the car mat and pushing the trains on the tracks. Sometimes we mixed it up and had the cars on the train tracks and the trains on the road! Important things Celebrating at OSHC this week What to cook next and find a recipe Discuss what to write to our pen pal Find out who our pen pal is???? We hope you continue to have a great week and stay tuned to find out more of our adventures that goes on here at OSHC. Till next week, keep smiling and continue to watch this space!!
