2015 PSAT Registration The Preliminary Scholastic

2015 PSAT Registration
The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is a short version of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
and a very good predictor of how learners will score on the SAT (an exam often used in college
admissions). The PSAT is also utilized to determine the semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship
Competition and the National Hispanic Scholars recognition program when taken the junior year.
Coppell High School strongly encourages all sophomores and all juniors to take the October 2015 PSAT.
The October 2015 PSAT will be the first opportunity for students to experience the newly redesigned and
reformatted Practice SAT. The design and format of the current SAT will go away after the January 2016
test date. The new SAT format will begin in March 2016. For more information about the redesigned and
reformatted PSAT and SAT, please visit www.deliveringopportunity.org.
The PSAT will be administered at Coppell High School on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Coppell High
School believes all learners should have the benefit of experiencing the PSAT before sitting for the SAT.
Sophomores – you do not need to register or pay. The school district is taking care of this for all
sophomores

In preparing for the PSAT there are two resources you may want to consider:
There is a PSAT prep course on your Naviance home page. Once you are logged in you can enter this
course by clicking on the link “PrepMe” this will take you to a new page where you’ll see the PSAT prep
course along with ones for the ACT and SAT. You are encouraged to use this program to become familiar
with the structure of the PSAT.
If you are interested in downloading a practice test please click here for the PSAT Practice Test 1 and
more information about the test design. All learners who will be taking the PSAT at Coppell High School
will receive a hard copy of the PSAT Student Guide approximately two weeks prior to the exam day.
