Carmarthenshire’s Hidden Beaches A Guide Here in Carmarthenshire, we’re proud to boast miles and miles of pristine coastline, playing home to enormous sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and breathtaking headlands ideal for an invigorating beach-side escape. What many don’t know is that we also boast a whole host of hidden coves and secluded bays, perfect for those in search of a tranquil coastal escape away from the beach-seeking crowds. To help holidaymakers stumble upon these somewhat hidden gems, we’ve produced this guide to our hidden beaches, with details of our favourite secluded sandy spots below. Each beach has a recommended ‘where to stay’ list (last page), with plenty of options, including a newly refurbished boutique hotel in Llansteffan, commanding impressive coastal views, as well as detailed instructions on how to best access each beach along with Ordinance Survey coordinates. Morfa Bychan, Nr Pendine Tucked between two headland points to the west of Pendine is Morfa Bychan- a small, pretty golden sand beach backed by a large pebble bank, leading into a lush, wooded valley. Commanding exceptional views over Carmarthen Bay towards the Gower and North Somerset, the beach is part of a rugged and remote section of the Carmarthenshire coastline, often meaning that visitors get the sands to themselves. Beach-goers willing to GRID REF: SN2250740 brave the brisk Autumn waters are safe to swim at high tide, and keen-eyed nature lovers will be able to spot the petrified remains of an extensive forest in the sands at low-tide; as well as the remnants of a Medieval field system. Access from Pendine beach, following the coast path over the headland. Vehicular access from the main Pendine to Marros road, first left after the Green Bridge inn, out of Pendine.
