Presenter Master Gardner Steven Becker
Pruning is essential to maintaining healthy and attractive
trees and shrubs, yet many fear this simple and often pleasant task. This presentation will cover the proper use and
selection of tools, common landscape trees and shrubs that
need pruning, times of year to prune and the basics on how
it is done. Participants will come away with confidence and
knowledge on how to care for the woody plants in their
landscape. Master Gardener Volunteer Steven Becker will
be presenting this program.
Basket Weaving
Tuesday, April 25 at 7pm and May 2 at 7pm.

Basketmakers Guild
Beginner Bread Basket:
during two evenings, learn how to weave a basic
basket that you can use for storage or for a bread
basket at your breakfast
table. The basket is made
of reed, and the finished
size is about 10" x 6" by 5"
high. You will learn how
to weave start/stop rows or
plain weave and how to fit
and lash rim. There will
be a choice of colors for the stripes. The materials fee is
$12.00 for this basket.

Red Cross Babysitting Course presented by Child Care Resources of Rockland, Inc.
Tuesday, April 4 and Wednesday, April 5 from 5:30pm-8:30pm
Teen
For ages 12-18. Registration is required. The cost for the class and materials is $25, and participants must
attend both three hour sessions on April 4 and April 5 to receive certification.
The course will prepare students to be better babysitters. Topics include how to provide care for infants and children, how
to stay safe, what to do in an emergency, how to choose age-appropriate activities, and how to recognize and handle a variety of
behaviors. Students will also learn the basics of starting a babysitting business. The course features video, activities, games, and
hands-on practice with tools babysitters may use when caring for children. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a
printable certificate.

The Stony Point Ambulance Corps has asked the
public not to park on their property behind the library
(their old headquarters) due to insurance issues. Please
be a good neighbor and honor their request.

People are always asking me to
publish more about the little things we
offer at the library so here goes: like the box for used eyeglasses (Lions Club); the basic IRS forms; voter registration
forms and absentee ballots; and that we benefit under the
Amazon Smile program when you register us as your favorite
non-for-profit when you make a purchase.
"Rose Memorial Library has been honored with a gift by the
Brownstone Book Fund. As one of one hundred libraries, we
will receive a gift of one hundred new children's books over
the next few weeks, thanks to the foundation. Our library was
chosen by the director of the Brownstone Book Fund, Ms.
Diane Brownstone, with the recommendation of the New
York State Librarian, Mr. Bernard Margolis. The foundation
"is interested in providing books for young children hopefully to excite and foster early interest in and love for books and
reading." We are very proud, and indebted to Ms. Brownstone
for her generosity and look forward to receiving our new
books.
TRUSTEE NEEDED
Just when we thought we had filled all the seats on our
Board, Christine Miles, a dedicated trustee for 7 years,
announced her departure. We will miss Christine’s lively
and engaged participation in our meetings, and thank her
for her years of service.
Of course this means we need to re-open the search for
appointing a new board member. Please consider
applying for this volunteer position, which requires
attendance at our monthly board meetings, committee
assignments and help in a variety of library projects.
Please submit a letter describing your interest in being a
