Is Your Business Generating Used Oil or Hazardous Waste? The City can help! There is a great program to properly dispose of unwanted hazardous chemicals you can’t dispose of in your regular trash bins. Businesses generating less than 27 gallons or 220 pounds per month of hazardous waste are defined by the State of California as “Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generators” (CESQG’s). The City of Santa Clarita has partnered with At Your Door to provide fully-permitted collections of used oil and hazardous waste at a reasonable cost. To determine if your business qualifies for a collection, please call At Your Door directly at (800) HHW-PKUP or go to GreenSantaClarita.com for more information. You are not required to use At Your Door, but you are required to manage your materials in accordance with state law. If you are interested in more green resources, please contact the City’s Environmental Services Division at (661) 286-4098 or online at GreenSantaClarita.com. For more info: 877-785-2237 or [email protected] Maintain Your Trash Enclosure Follow these simple tips to keep your trash enclosure clean: • Keep dumpster lids closed. This prevents the rain water from entering the container and keeps wind and feral animals from tossing litter into the parking lot and surrounding areas. • Pick up litter in and around trash enclosure and parking lot. Don’t let it enter the streets or storm drain system. Call Burrtec to empty the dumpster if it is full. • Don’t hose out or fill dumpster or compactor with liquid waste. Keeping liquids out of your trash and recycling containers will prevent any liquids from leaking into the surrounding area. • Sweep outside areas instead of using a hose. Sweeping not only conserves water, it also prevents the material from being swept away into the storm drain. 11-20150301-SC-CommBin-05 GreenSantaClarita.com Commercial Recycling ACCEPTABLE RECYCLABLES Newspaper/Magazines/ Cardboard/Chipboard Mixed Paper Cereal boxes Tissue boxes Food boxes Milk cartons Juice boxes Soda/beer cartons Junk mail Telephone books Catalogs Computer paper Envelopes Wrapping paper Brochures Crayon drawings Paper bags Cardboard boxes Gift boxes Glass Bottles/Jars Juice bottles Beer bottles Wine bottles Liquor bottles Baby food jars Jam jars Jelly jars Assorted food jars Salad dressing bottles Copy paper Plastic Bottles, Jugs & jars #1 & #7 Aluminum & Metal Cans Plastic water bottles Plastic soda bottles Plastic milk jugs Plastic laundry jugs Shampoo bottles Lotion bottles Food bottles Condiment bottles Motor oil containers Vegetable oil bottles Plastic bags Aluminum soda cans Aluminum beer cans Fruit cans Vegetable cans Pet food cans Juice cans Soup cans Sauce cans Assorted food cans All materials must be placed in the commercial recycling container provided NON-ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS (Place in your trash container) Used diapers Used tissue products Soiled pizza boxes Wax paper Used paper plates Clothing Styrofoam cups Styrofoam plates Styrofoam packaging Egg cartons (styrofoam) Ceramic dishes/cups Light bulbs Mirrors Windows Safety glass Drinking glasses Plastic pools & toys Plastic margarine tubs Garden hoses Plastic lawn furniture Food waste Furniture, carpets & other products containing fabric Metal lawn furniture Used aluminum foil (661) 222-2249 26000 Springbrook Ave., Suite 101 Santa Clarita, CA 91350 burrtec.com 11-20150301-SC-CommBin-05 2015 Saturday, April 11, 2015 CENTRAL PARK To enter, create a work of art using a 96-gallon trash cart and materials of your choice.
