50th Annual
This is an invitation for your AAA boys’ hockey team to apply for entry to the 50th Annual Cogeco Golden
Horseshoe Tournament, to be held on December 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th, 2017. Semi-Finals and Grand
Championship games are the only games played on the 30th of December. All Championship games
broadcasted on TV Cogeco. Finalists receive personal copy of recorded game in HD courtesy of TV
Cogeco.
All teams applying before Labour Day with full payment (cheque must be dated pre-September 4th,
2017) will be given early acceptance to the tournament.




Tournament Format
All divisions will play a round-robin format to qualify for the single game elimination playoffs. The Tyke
division will have a four game guarantee in round-robin plus semi-finals and finals. Novice, Atom,
Peewee, Bantam and Midget divisions will play a 4 game round-robin format with semi-finals and finals if
the total number of participating teams is less than 20. If total registration in each of these divisions
exceeds 20 teams, a 4 game round-robin will apply, followed by quarter finals, semi-finals and finals. This
applies to each noted division independently.
All teams are expected to play up to two games each day with only semi-final and final games on
December 30th. Round robin group team-standing records will be kept where teams are awarded two
points for a win, 1 point each for a tie, and 0 points for a loss. There will be no overtime in round robin
games. All teams should be prepared to have start times as early as 7:30am and as late as 9:00pm
start on the first day of competition. All attempts will be made to schedule the younger divisions earlier
and older divisions later.
Team Registration & Hotel Arrangements
All teams needing hotel accommodations are required to stay in participating hotels. A complete list of

Special team rates and blocks have been arranged with partner hotels. Further information will be
forwarded as soon as your team is registered.

Teams withdrawing after September 30th, 2017 will be subject to a $200 administrative charge.
Teams withdrawing after October 31st 2017 no refund will be provided.
