Prefixes, Root Words,
Suffixes
Pick four words from the newspaper that have a
prefix and/or suffix. Write them above the houses
on the page inside.
Divide each word into prefix, root, and/or suffix and
write the parts in the house. Use your own words or
a dictionary definition to write the meaning in the
roof of the house.

Meaning: The state of
being unable to secure
paid employment.

After you finish:
Choose one of the prefixes and
brainstorm a list of words with that
prefix. You may refer to a dictionary
for help. Compose a paragraph
using at least five of these words.
