The Coppell Education Foundation’s 3rd annual Run to Fund 5K/10K and Fun Run was another huge success with 1,200 runners participating. The goal of the event was to create awareness and support for the Education Foundation’s purpose of funding programs that are innovative and educationally engaging. Farwell to Retirees This year, retirees have amassed a total of 303 years of service to the Coppell ISD. We appreciate their tremendous commitment to our children and years of dedicated service to this school district. The Coppell Education Foundation held its annual Academic Recognition Banquet in May. The banquet honored the top 5% of the graduating senior students from Coppell High School and New Tech High @ Coppell. These learners each acknowledge a CISD teacher who made the greatest impact in their academic careers. In addition, the Campus Teachers of the Year were honored, and the District Teachers of the Year were announced. Several smaller projects were started or completed throughout this past school year, and additional projects will occur throughout the summer: • For safety reasons, entry vestibules were reconfigured at all the elementary and middle school campuses. (CMS-North should be completed by the end of summer.) • Additional surveillance cameras and card access locations were added. • The district’s technology infrastructure was upgraded including the network, switches, and storage. • 3,100 iPads were purchased and distributed to all Coppell High School students. • Maintenance began replacing exterior wall lights with LED lighting. • Campus teachers and staff began researching and planning for flexible learning spaces at each of the campuses. • Replacement instruments, library books, classroom furniture and maintenance vehicles were purchased as needed. • The Buddy Echols Stadium lights (now 20 years old) will be replaced this summer. • Wireless upgrades were made to CHS and North. Additional upgrades will be made at East and West middle schools this summer. • To enhance the iPad program, technology will upgrade the Mobile Device Management and content Lee Elementary filtering system.
