We are excited about once again working with Tanya Larson and Alpine Design Studio
on a custom timber frame home to be built on lakefront property in Michigan. One of
Tanya’s designs, pictured here, caught the eye of this homeowner and it only made sense
that we organize our design efforts with Alpine Design Studio heading up the creative
design work on this project.

demand for the Grizzly Paw
brands. The structure, with
its serrated roof profile,
mimics the Rocky Mountain
backdrop in Canmore and
has been chosen for a case
study by the Canadian

GRIZZLY PAW BREWERY - SOON TO BE FEATURED BY WOODWORKS!
Grizzly Paw brewery is located on a 1-acre site in an industrial
sector on the outskirts of Canmore. The brewery was initially
designed to be a steel building but preliminary cost estimates
were over-budget. An alternative conceptual design was made
based on exposed heavy timber. The resulting timber building
met all the building science challenges, saved money and
better meets the Rocky Mountain architectural design motif
of Canmore.
1,000,000 BOARD FEET
OF LOGS AND TIMBER!
The snow is piling up here in the Columbia
Valley and so is our inventory in anticipation of
a very busy 2013. With close to 1,000,000 board
feet of logs and timber on the ground in our yard
we are ready for the many projects slated for the
upcoming season!
Canadian Timberframes sources 90% of it's
timber (Douglas fir) locally (within a 2-hour drive of
the plant) from sustainable and ethically managed forest
stands. The timber is milled at one of its two sawmills.
Checking is limited by using 2-year old logs that have
been cant-cut to promote drying. Logs are milled to first
obtain the largest and best quality products. Secondary
products (boards and slabs) are sorted by grade and
quality for use in stairs, trim, siding and decking etc.
Shavings and sawdust from the manufacturing are
provided free to local farmers. The remaining bark slabs
and offcuts (less than 5%) are ground and trucked to a
burner/steam unit in Golden, BC, to generate electric
power for Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.
