Please contact Mandi Rae with questions or suggestions. Join MCUUF's Volunteer Hood River Shelter (Warming and Cooling Shelter) Services Team: Make a difference in the lives of others and our community by serving those who are without a house or heat. Please join the UU shelter team this winter season that starts on November 13. For new volunteers, orientation to the winter season is October 26, 6:30-9:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Hood River Valley Christian Church. To volunteer and for details, please contact Fran F. Minister and Congregational Evaluation: We will be submitting an evaluation to the Unitarian Universalist Association of our congregation and our minister, as we did last year. This is required for all congregations with ministers in preliminary fellowship. If you would like to offer comments, please contact Lori G. for a blank form. She will need your input by November 10. The MCUUF religious education book group has openings for two more members. We read and discuss a wide range of books on religion, spirituality, and related themes. Our current book is The Island of Knowledge: The Limits of Science and the Search for Meaning by Marcelo Gleiser. We meet every other Wednesday from 10 a.m. till noon downstairs at the Grange. If you might enjoy joining us, call Dennis C. Volunteer needed for Set-Up on Fifth Sundays. Our fellowship needs a volunteer to do set-up and take-down on the fifth Sundays of the month (about 4 times per year). David K. is presently doing his own set-up one Sunday a month, plus the fifth Sunday set-up. This is not fair to David. We need a volunteer to take over the fifth Sunday set-up. Please contact David. He will be very happy to show you what’s involved. Path to Membership. Becoming a member is a mutual expression of commitment between you and the fellowship. We welcome you among us and commit to support you and your religious and spiritual growth. You commit to active participation in the life of our group and to supporting the ministries of the fellowship. Several times a year we officially welcome new members who have been participating regularly with us. The path to membership this fall will include a get-acquainted potluck at Debbie O’s home on November 5, then a membership ceremony Sunday, November 20. Persons interested in joining the fellowship this fall may contact Debbie for further information. International Convocation of Unitarian Universalist Women and People of Progressive Faiths. You are invited to attend the Third International Convocation of Unitarian Universalist Women and People of Progressive Faiths, February 16-19, in Asilomar, Pacific Grove, California. The theme of the convocation is “Weaving Global Partnerships . . . Forging a Just Future Together.” The convocation will offer community and connection, information and inspiration, and motivation and momentum that lead to action and change. We are expecting more than 500 UU women. For more information, go to: http://www.intlwomensconvo.org/third-international-womens-convocation/ Feed the wagon; feed our neighbors.
