Microphones, iTouches, paper, pencils, sound system with connection available to
iTouch
Activity
Students will watch YouTube videos of a variety of artists, then will determine the
theme of The Outsiders, write a rap (poem) about it, and use Freestyle App to record.
4 45 minutes class periods
Then students will share rap with class.
1 30 minute class period

Students will learn about the structure of a song and how it differs and is

Day 2: Students will determine theme of The Outsiders with a partner and write a rap

Students will be evaluated Day 3 and 4: Students will learn how to use FreeStyle app. Students will decide on a
on their understanding of beat and record their rap. All voices must be present in order to receive full credit.
