Bosque Del Oso SWA - Las Animas County
From Trinidad, go 20 miles west on Highway 12 to Weston. Just before you enter town, look for the DOW
signs on the south (left) side of the highway. Turn south on the access road that leads to six parking areas,
including the Oso Malo (Bad Bear) camping area.

Restrictions:
A. Closed Dec. 1-March 31, except licensed big
game hunters and one non-hunting companion.
B. Campfires prohibited except in designated areas.
C. Discharging firearms or bows prohibited except while hunting.
D. Camping prohibited outside designated areas
except by hunters during hunting seasons.
E. Parking allowed only in designated areas.
F. Leaving any unattended food or refuse is prohibited unless it is being stored in a bear resistant manner or container.
G. Fishing prohibited on S. Fork of Purgatoire
River in SWA from day after Labor Day weekend until first day of Memorial Day weekend.
H. Artificial flies and lure only on S and M forks
of Purgatoire River in SWA. All fish must be
returned to the water immediately.
I. Snowmobiles, motorized vehicles, ATVs and
bicycles on established roads or trails may be
prohibited to protect wildlife and prevent resource damage. Closures posted.
In addition to or in place of those restrictions listed in regulation #900 the above listed provisions
or restrictions apply (see Chapter 9, http://wildlife.state.co.us/RulesRegs/Regulations/).
