PRCC Quick Start - How Do I Access my eBook?
Why does PRCC use the course fee model for eBooks and additional resources? Compared to new traditional
textbooks, students save an average of $300 per semester using the course fee model. Students also receive their
materials the first day of class in an integrated, pin-less package through Canvas exclusive to PRCC students with the
eBook, additional resources, and the option to purchase a loose leaf for $30, if one is not provided with the bundle.
Not all courses are on the course fee model. Stop by the Wildcat Den Bookstore to find out what you need for class!
1. Go to your Canvas account (https://prcc.instructure.com) and login with your student credentials.
2. Under the COURSES tab, select your course. Click on the BOOKSHELF tab to your left.
3. If your course requires an eBook you should see it pop up like below:
4. To access the book, enter your login information when prompted, and click on the book and it will appear.
(**If you have not created an account with Vital Source, you will need to do so first. Make sure this account
information is written down in a safe spot. If you choose to download your eBook to your device or access it
on the Vital Source Bookshelf App using your phone or tablet, you will need the same login information).
5. To navigate through your eBook, highlight, view your library, and more you can click on the MAIN MENU tab
to the left, which is three bars like shown below:
6. Vital Source offers 24/7 customer support: https://support.vitalsource.com/hc/enus/requests/new?ticket_form_id=56343. Students may also download the Vital Source Bookshelf App to
their cell phones/devices by searching the App Store for Vital Source Bookshelf. Students can access their
materials on the go at any time. Look for the app logo pictured below:
How Do I Download My eBook?
1. To view your eBook with WIFI you do not have to download your eBook, it is in your Canvas course.
However, if you would like to view your book offline where WIFI is not available, you may do so on up to
FOUR devices including your cell phone! To download your books visit https://online.vitalsource.com.
2. Login using the same information you registered with the first time you accessed your eBook in Canvas.
3. If your accounts sync, your library should look like the picture below with your books:
4. To download your book, click on your account- which is the icon pictured below located in the far right hand
corner, then click the SUPPORT link:
5. This link will bring you to Vital Source Support where you can receive 24/7 customer support and assistance.
It also brings you to the site where you will download the app to your tablet or computer by choosing the
appropriate device. Click on the middle tab DOWNLOAD BOOKSHEF as pictured below: (you may also click the
actual picture below to follow the hyperlink to the site)
6. Choose your device and follow the steps to download your eBooks to view offline. To print from your eBook,
visit your Canvas account or downloaded eBook and click on the PRINTER button at the bottom right hand
corner. Select the appropriate print driver that you wish to print from, and then hit print. To print more than
the allotted pages, simply repeat the steps as many times as needed.
7. Each student receives a free $25 print credit at the library to use the libraries printer. Students may also
purchase a WEPA print card using their financial aid or use their credit/debit card for use at the two WEPA
Print Kiosks on the Poplarville and FCC campuses.
