Concepts from each presentation in a series, build upon each other to enhance the overall learning experience. Essential Wellbeing Series Personal empowerment is an essential component of wellbeing. This four-part series focuses on helping you become the best version of yourself by pursuing wellbeing in all its forms. These presentations explore the concepts of purpose, resilience, positive thinking, and everyday habits. Master Your Mission German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche once said, “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” Knowing your ‘why’ is an important first step in figuring out how to achieve the goals that excite you and create a life you enjoy living. Only when you know your ‘why,’ will you find the courage to take the risks needed to get ahead, stay motivated, and move your life into an entirely new, more challenging, and more rewarding trajectory. You will discuss the 3 most important questions to ask yourself in order to determine your purpose and master your mission. This presentation will change the way you plan your life and see your goals. It will change the way you approach your career, mission, and life purpose. The Power to Change Now that you have discovered your ‘why,’ how do you begin making the changes you want a reality? The key is to tap into the power of habits. Willpower isn’t just a skill, it’s a muscle just like the muscles in your arms or legs. It gets tired as it works harder, depleting its effectiveness. As people strengthen willpower in one part of their life, that strength spills over into other behaviors, such as food choices or work ethic. The key to exercising regularly, losing weight, raising exceptional children, becoming more productive, and achieving success, is understanding how habits work. We share concepts that will show you that bad habits aren’t destiny. By harnessing the power of habits, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives. The Power of Resilience — Bounce Forward Throughout life’s journey, you are bound to encounter adversity. Have you ever known anyone who seems to sail through rough times? Whether they experience job loss, financial setbacks, or health issues, they recover with ease. What is it that sets these people apart? Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress. Today, more than ever, resilience is necessary in the workplace. Employees are experiencing ongoing change that often requires taking on new responsibilities, quickly learning new skills, and doing more with less. Highly resilient workers are able to cope well with high levels of ongoing, disruptive change. They are able to adapt to a new way of working while sustaining good health and energy, under pressure. You will develop skills to reevaluate tough situations by looking on the bright side and seeing the opportunity to make positive changes. As George Eliot said, “It will never rain roses: when we want to have more roses, we must plant more roses.” The Power of Positive Thinking — Attitude and Gratitude Positive thinking and gratitude are the final pieces of your personal empowerment journey. Positive thinking is a mental and emotional attitude that focuses on the bright side of life and expects positive results. A positive person anticipates and feels worthy of happiness, health and success, while believing that he or she can overcome any obstacle. What is the first thing you remember about someone you meet? Chances are it’s their attitude! A positive attitude is a priceless possession for personal fulfillment and career success, and is an essential element for creating a positive workplace. When we think about the basic elements of human relationships, we think primarily about the attitude we each bring to relationship. You will evaluate your attitude and learn techniques to build a more positive state of mind. Additionally, you will understand the effects of gratitude in your life and how to cultivate more of it.
