Big Brothers Big Sisters “Big Buddies” Scholarship
- One $500 scholarship for a Shelby County student and one $500 scholarship for a Darke County
student for the 2017/2018 college academic year
- Recipients announced on May 6, 2017
- Check distributed shortly after made payable to the student

Minimum Requirements to apply:
- Student must have maintained at least a 2.5 GPA throughout high school
- Must be a high-school senior enrolled in a Darke or Shelby County School
- Must be a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters for two full academic years
- Must have at least 75% attendance participation with the Big Buddies program
- Applicants must plan to pursue an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in any field of study at an
accredited two- or four-year college or university or technical school.

Application Process
- Part 1: Complete attached application
- Part 2: Two References (forms included): Teacher, guidance counselor, principal, and/or
Community Service Coordinator (excluding Big Brothers Big Sisters)
- Part 3: Submit a typed, double spaced essay on why volunteering is important in the community.
(500 word minimum, no more than 1,500 words.) Must include factual information about the
impact of volunteering/helping in the community as well as personal reasons for volunteering.
- Submit no later than April 15, 2017
