Pool Schedule 2013
Pool opens Memorial Day weekend, May 24 that noon. Open swim hours are 12:00-8:00 PM on weekends and 3:00-8:00 PM on
weekdays until school ends. June 15th through September 2nd pool will be open daily from 12:00 - 8:00 PM. Lifeguard
will be on duty during these hours. If lifeguard is NOT on duty, the following rules exist for the pool:
1. Children ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older.
2. Children ages 13-17 cannot swim alone. A minimum of two people 13 years or older are required to be on the premises.

Class Description & Times
Fee: $45 per session, residents only
Cks payable to Tapps Island Association (TIA)
Placement test strongly recommended. Lifeguards on duty can conduct tests and
answer questions. Students placed in wrong class are not guaranteed a spot.
Class times may change due to need.

PRESCHOOL (AGES 3-5)
RAYS: Students can already paddle on front, back & side for 15 ft w/o support, &

STARFISH: Students can already paddle on front, back & side for 40 ft w/o support. Gain
increased endurance & independence & learn kneeling dives. 10:30am, 11am
YOUTH (AGES 6 &
OLDER)
POLLIWOGS - Beginning level for 6 yr olds. Focus on water adjustment & basic skills the
strokes will be built upon. 9am, 10am, 11:00am.
GUPPIES: Students can already paddle on front, back & side for 25 yds. w/support & 20 ft
w/o support. Breathing patterns w/strokes & deep-water skills introduced. 9:30am, 11am
MINNOW: Students able to paddle on front, back & side for 25 yds. ea w/o support. Define
paddles into strokes & learn base for breaststroke & backstroke. 9:30am, 10:30am
FISH: Students able to front & back crawl, elementary backstroke for 25 yds. ea. & standing
dives. Stroke refinement is continued & dolphin kick & dives are learned. 11:30am
SWIM TEAM - 8 to 13 year olds. Students will work on all of the strokes including crawl
stroke, back stroke, breast stroke, butterfly, side stroke, and others. Throughout the
summer they will play water polo, do some synchronized swimming, race, and learn junior
lifeguarding skills. At the end of the summer there will be a swim meet against swimmers
in Auburn held at the Auburn Valley YMCA (subject to change depending on level of
participation). Tuesday and Thursday 8:00-9:00 am starting June 26th.
AQUACISE - A full body workout, including a good amount of aerobic exercise and
extensive flexing and stretching. Taught by Island resident Sharon Cochran.
Mon & Wed: 8:00-9:00 am and Fri: 9:00-10:00 am, beginning June 3rd. No Fee.

Tapps Island hires our own qualified swim
instructors and lifeguards to run the swim
program at our pool.
Swim lessons at Tapps Island are available to
Tapps Island residents only.
Things to Know...
1. Guests must always be accompanied by a
TIA member.
2. Swimmers who cannot pass a swim test or
touch the bottom of the pool must be
accompanied by an adult.
3. Everyone must sign in when a lifeguard is
on duty, even if you don’t plan to swim.
4. To maintain the pool as a private amenity
for residents & their guests, lifeguards
may ask you to show your Tapps Island
ID Card if they don’t recognize you.
