Upper Arlington Fire Division Requests
Residents Update File of Life
When you can’t speak for yourself, the File of Life speaks for you
In 2012, the Upper Arlington Commission on Aging, in partnership with the UA
Fire Division, mailed the File of Life to all
UA residents 60 and older. The File of Life
is a red magnetic pouch that hangs on the
outside of the refrigerator door. Inside the
pouch is a card containing medical history,
medications and emergency contact information. During an emergency, precious
seconds can be saved when medics refer
to the File of Life for immediate information.
The lifesaving information contained in
the File of Life is only useful if it is accurate
and current. If you have a File of Life that
has not been reviewed this year, please
take a moment to update your information. Don’t forget to review emergency
contact information. Check with your
emergency contacts and add email addresses and cell phone numbers; often the
easiest way for medical personnel to reach
your loved ones quickly.
The UA Fire Division recommends the
File of Life for all residents. During an
emergency, it is easy to forget important
information about your diagnosis, medications and how to contact your family members. Having the File of Life completed and
ready for use will give you peace of mind
that all your pertinent health information
is at your fingertips.
The File of Life kits are available at the
UA Senior Center, UA Fire Houses and the
UA Municipal Building. For more information, please contact Amy Schossler at
614-583-5326.
The File of Life is made possible
through generous funding from the UA
Community Foundation and the UA Rotary
Club.
