Round Pond Improvements, Kensington Gardens The Round Pond Improvement Project aims to recreate the Charles Bridgeman Plan of 1734 which showed the Round Pond with formal crisp edging sitting on a plateau to be viewed from Kensington Palace. This beautify body of water will see a facelift that will not only reflect the original design intention but help with sustainable management, maintenance and safety. The project will: • upgrade surfacing materials around the pond • repair edging and pond lining • include future planning for water quality improvements • redesign the emergency life buoyancy aids • include improvements to the view from Kensington Gardens with removal of the main path leading to the pond • improve drainage • improvements to the setting of the Tiffany Fountain. When will works start? Historic Plans Construction will commence on site in February 2014 after partial draining of the pond. This will cause some disruption to the access to The Round Pond for approximately 12 weeks. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If you would like more information on this project, or wish to give us some feedback that may help with development of the project you can email the Park Services Team. [email protected] We will also be making project updates available to download so you can keep up to date with developments.
