1. What were some positive and negative impacts of the Market Revolution on the USA?
The Market Revolution increased the production of goods with the innovation of the factory.
Inventions, such as the telegraph and the steamboat, increased communications and improved travel.
Yet, there were negative impacts as well. Many who worked in factories had to work long hours in
harsh conditions.
2. Why did many immigrants, particularly Irish immigrants, face hostility in the USA?
Many immigrants worked for lower wages and this created job competition and resentment with
natives. Likewise, there was religious tension as many in the USA were Protestant while many of
the Irish were Catholic.
