Instructions for Accessing and Using Outlook Live Email Accounts Click on Webmail link the Northland.edu page or go to the Outlook Live Website at http://www.outlook.com Log in with your Northland email address and password. [email protected] Address format is: first initial + last name @ myemail.northland.edu Example: Password: [email protected] school issued Home Page of Outlook Live Includes 4 areas: 1. Mail 2. Office 3. Photos 4. More 1 1. Mail Tab – provides access to Inbox, Calendar and Contacts Similar to Microsoft Outlook. Northland contacts are included in the contact list. All Northland contacts are available by clicking on “To” when creating your email message. 2. Office Tab access to MS Web Apps on the SkyDrive including: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and One Note. 2 3. More Tab Users have 25GB of online storage space available. Find the Microsoft Web Apps under this tab – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. The Web Apps are not full versions of the applications; not all features will be available. Users may create, save, and share documents. Start by Naming any new document. Then, Create. After this, the application will open. Files Save to the SkyDrive (a 25 GB virtual online ‘My Documents’ site). Sky Drive – My Documents 3 Creating a Word Document Step 1: Start by Naming a new document. Create.. Documents SAVE (see Step 2) to the Sky Drive. After this, the application will open. Step 2: After creating a document, remember to Save your work. Selecting SAVE from the File tab, saves the document to the SkyDrive. To open a saved SkyDrive document: 1. Click on the MORE tab. Open the SkyDrive. “Documents” file. 2. Double click on the name of the folder/file you need to open. 3. Select “Edit in Browser” 4. Remember to Save any changes you make to the file, by repeating “Step 2” (above left). 4 Creating an Excel Document Step 1 Start by Naming any new document. Create. Save. Remember to Save any changes you make to the file, by repeating “Step 2” (above left). 5 Creating a PowerPoint Presentation Start by Naming any new document. Create. Save. Documents SAVE to the Sky Drive. After this, the application will open. Any information added to PowerPoint documents saves automatically to the SkyDrive. Changes made to documents opened from the SkyDrive, are saved to the SkyDrive.For presentations, PowerPoint files should be opened directly into PowerPoint. To open a saved SkyDrive document: 1. Click on the MORE tab. Open the SkyDrive. “Documents” file. 2. Double click on the name of the folder/file you need to open. 3. Select “Edit in Browser” 4.
