David Potter is Francis W. Kelsey Collegiate Professor,
Arthur F. Thurnau Professor and
Professor of Greek and Latin at the University of Michigan. His recent books
include Theodora: Actress, Empress, Saint (Oxford, 2015), The Roman Empire at
Bay 2nd ed. (London, 2013) and Constantine the Emperor (Oxford, 2012).
In this lecture he will be presenting material from his
forthcoming book on the rise of the Roman Empire.
