Nate and Shelly Ardle
University of Michigan
Fall Launch
This will be our 18th fall
launch at Michigan and
Nate’s 11th leading the
movement. We are excited
for what God has before
us! This is the most critical
time of year for our ministry
as we seek to connect with
as many incoming freshmen as we can. Having the largest staff
team we have ever had,
along with a great group of
upperclass student leaders,
I expect we will have one of
our largest involved freshmen classes in all our years
here! Pray that God would honor
our steps of faith and give
us the opportunity to
change the lives of these
students. Pray also for our new interns who must finish raising their financial support
this month.

Equipping New Staff
Summer Connect
Nate thoroughly enjoyed the chance to
teach new staff how to study the Word. His
group members were from various schools
in the Great Lakes Region and included
Matthew Dodson, who is coming off an internship with Cru at U-M. These new staff
are going back to their schools or to the Cru
regional office better equipped to understand the Scriptures, be transformed by it,
and teach it to others. Around 1800 students per week have been
participating in online talks as a part of
Summer Connect with Cru. They have
heard from some of the best speakers within Cru, including Dr. Tim Muehlhoff (pictured
below “in studio”). Be praying for these men and women. New
Staff Orientation for Cru just finished midJuly. They have all begun Ministry Partner
Development, in which they will continue to
raise their financial support until they are
fully funded. Pray especially for Matthew and also for our
new staff woman, Keren, who is coming to
U-M after graduating from Moody and interning a year with Cru at Ohio University.
One student had this to say about their experience with Summer Connect:
I have thoroughly enjoyed the broadcasts.
The speakers have done a great job of
digging into Scripture and providing practical steps to apply what they have
learned. Summer is usually a time for me
to tend to take a break from evangelism
but the faith steps and the outreach have
pushed me to take steps of faith in this
season and I am so grateful!
Nate has been grateful to have been a part
of this program, and we hope it will continue
to grow in the years ahead.
Kids’ Column
With no Summer Mission and no national
staff conference this year, this vacation is
one of the few long trips this year. It was
definitely one of my favorite vacations to
date. My favorite part was New York City
because of all the tall buildings, all of the
people, and all the things there are to do
there. My favorite part of NYC was the
9/11 Memorial, which was so powerful
and moving. Central Park was also a lot
of fun because it’s the only place in the
city with grass and we were able to
climb on rocks.
Andrew and I went on the missions trip!
It was the best week of my life! I did
community service and got to help do
sooo many things! It was a great experience, and I am closer to God than I have
ever been. A few days after Andrew and I
got back, the whole family had a vacation. We went to Washington D.C., New
York, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, and
stopped in Hershey, Pensilvania to go to
the Hershey factory and do the free tour
of how chocolate is made. We got free
samples of chocolate afterwards and I
saw a chocolate bar that was almost as
big as a regular-sized pillow!
Times Square
Little Round Top at Gettysburg
This summer was much better because
we didn't camp like we usually do. We
first when to D.C. and stayed with my
dad’s aunt and uncle. We went to the
Capitol and there was a lock down. We
also saw the White House and the
Washington Monument. We then went to
New York and we were at Central Park a
lot. We went to some playgrounds but
they weren’t very good so we just played
on the natural playgrounds (rocks). Then
we hung out with a family and swam.
That was my favorite part. And finally the
end of our trip was at Gettysburg. I
didn't like that as much.

I thought this summer would be much
more relaxing, NOPE! We barely did ANY
relaxing. But even though it was NOT
relaxing AT ALL it was still a lot of fun.
We went to NY, Washington DC, Gettysburg, Hershey, and Philadelphia. Overall
it was fun!😀
