Jesus challenges his disciples to examine who they love first and foremost. A true disciple
loves God above all else and is willing to forsake all for Jesus Christ. Jesus insists that his
disciples give him the loyalty which is only due to God, a loyalty which is higher than spouse
or kin. It is possible that family and friends can become our enemies if the thought of them
keeps us from doing what we know God wants us to do. Does the love of Jesus Christ compel
you to put God first in all you do (2 Corinthians 5:14)?

friend, Fr, Joseph a farewell. We have truly

Es un fin de semana en el cual el joven tiene un encuentro con Jesucristo a través de platicas,
películas, dinámicas, celebraciones litúrgicas, testimonios y el compartir con otros jóvenes en
grupos pequeños. El fin de semana se lleva acabo por jóvenes, pues el joven es llamado a evangelizar a otros jóvenes. ¿Quién puede participar? Jóvenes solteros entre las edades de 18-35
años. El fin de semana inicia el viernes a las 6:00 PM y se termina el domingo. La donación
del fin de semana es de $50.00. Esta donación incluye materiales y comidas.

2. The Letter and the Spirit, Justice and Mercy
The Holy Spirit is the key to solving the very tricky problem of the relationship between the law
and mercy. Commenting on Paul’s saying that the letter kills but the Spirit gives life (2 Corinthians
3:3-6), St. Thomas Aquinas writes, “The ‘letter’ refers to every written law that exists outside of
man, including the moral precepts of the gospel. The ‘letter’ of the gospel, even of its precepts,
also kills without the inward presence of the grace of faith that heals us.”81 Shortly before that
statement, the holy doctor explains what he means by “the grace of faith”: “The new law is primarily the same grace of the Holy Spirit that is given to believers.”82
