Hitler was very aware of the influence that the arts had on how people thought, so the arts had to be controlled. An obsessive-compulsive about all his ideas, he was very specific about the sculpture, paintings, dance, and music that would be tolerated and collected by the Reich and the “degenerative” art that had to be destroyed. Ann Leslie takes you down the Nazi’s path of destruction as she describes how they stole and destroyed some of the world’s most precious artwork. NATIVE AMERICAN ARTS, ANTIQUITIES & STORYTELLING Tuesday, April 4 - 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. T here are cultures in which art is not separated from daily life. Native American art provides deep meaning about life. Artifacts including Lakota beadwork, Navajo rugs, Pueblo pottery, Pipestone pipes, and Zuni animal fetishes tell us stories that teach us about life, the universe, and our place in creation. Here, art is functional and ordinary objects become things of beauty and passion that carry stories. Ann Leslie has a deep connection that will be exhibited in her show-and-tell collection of artifacts of various Native American tribes.
