Message from the Principals
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is hard to believe that we are in March already, and
this month we have many activities going on here at
school and with our PTA. We invite parents and family
Geoff White, AP
members to come in on March 3rd to read to a class. If
you would like to volunteer, please return the form to
your teacher, and we will contact you with a set time.
We also will be hosting The Spring Family Book Fair
and Curriculum Night on March 8th. Events like the
book fair help to get children excited about reading
and since March is reading month, it is a great event
to kick-off the month.
We are having our first Student vs. Faculty
Basketball Game on March 16 from 6-7:30 at Caroline
Middle School. We are excited to have fun with our
5th graders along with raising money for the American
Heart Association.
LCES teachers continue to use the Positive Behavior
Interventions and Supports model. This research
based model has proven to improve school culture,
citizenship and the level of responsibility in
students. Additionally, PBIS reduces the need to
remove students from the instructional setting for
poor behavior. Teachers will continue to use Student
Conduct forms to communicate with you regarding
your child’s behavior.
Kindergarten registration begins on April 3-May 5
from 10 am- 2 pm, please remind your neighbors
to get their child registered for Kindergarten.
We will have Ready Freddie Day on April 6 from
10-7 pm. Parents may come in during the evening
hours to register.
Thank you,
Cyndi Aref, Principal

favorite Dr. Seuss character to help celebrate his
birthday and the joys of reading. Thank you to the
parents who are volunteering to read in different
classrooms on March 3rd. We look forward to seeing the
students dressed up! Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

From the P.E. Department
The LCES PE Department has once again teamed up with the American Heart Association to host our annual Jump Rope
for Heart event and fundraiser! In class, students are learning about how to take care of their heart, while also raising
money to support heart health and research! Our school goal is $6000. Students have been asked to join our team online
and take the “Zoo Crew E-Card Challenge” by e-mailing 10 family members or friends about Jump Rope for Heart to earn
their lanyard, badge, and other prizes. The class in each grade level with the highest online participation will receive a
bounce house party on the day of Grizzly Games, April 5. Visit www.heart.org/jump to sign up!
Please join us on March 16 at 6:00 PM in the Caroline Middle School gym for our very first Student vs. Faculty basketball
game! Fifth grade students will take on the teachers in a fierce match up. The LCES dance team and the CMS step team
will perform at half time. The cost of admission is $2 for adults, $1 for kids, and FREE for any student wearing their Jump
Rope for Heart lanyard with Rory the lion attached. All proceeds to go towards our American Heart Association donations.
Fun for the whole family to enjoy!
