Bill Newton
William Newton was born in Essex and is a full time professional artist working on gallery, exhibition
and privately commissioned paintings. He has enjoyed a number of very successful 'sell out' oneman exhibitions and has exhibited at various London locations, including the Barbican, the Mall
Galleries, the Guildhall and numerous commercial galleries. Largely self-taught, he works in most
mediums, on almost any subject-matter, notably marine painting and landscape etc. and is the
author of the Leisure Arts book 'Painting with Watercolours'. He is a member of various Art
Societies, including the London Sketch Club and is also a busy demonstrator for a well-known Art
Materials Company and runs regular painting workshops and demonstrations for Art Societies. A
practising Art Tutor with experience of teaching both adults and children, his paintings are held in
private and corporate collections worldwide.

Roy Sparks
Roy Sparks has been exhibiting paintings since 1960’s exploring textures, colour and the continuous
process of painting. He studied at Goldsmiths School of Art- BA, then at Sussex University where he
received his M.Ed.
Roy’s work is in private and public collections, and was exhibited in the UK and abroad. Solo
exhibitions include: Maidstone Museum and Art Gallery, Galeria U98 Madrid. Metropole Arts Centre,
Folkstone, Honover Gallery, Liverpool and the Arts Centre, Listowel, Ireland.
Group shows include: Royal Institute of Oil painters, New English Art Club, London Group, South East
London Group, Artists International Association, Gulbenkian Gallery, New Castle, KIAD, Rochester
and Metropole Arts Centre, Folkstone.
Roy has numerous publications on Art Education, and his work has been published in books in many
countries.
Roy is the president of the Rochester and West Kent Art Society.
Sue Williams
Sue demonstrates using acrylic inks, watercolour or pen and ink. She is very experienced and
will usually paint two or three pictures during a demonstration with a commentary which
explains techniques ideas and answers questions. Sue has taught watercolour painting for over
30 years privately in Kent, Sussex and Norfolk and at residential summer schools. She has
exhibited in London at the ROI, the RI, the Society of Women artists and The Botanical Artists
exhibitions and has written for The Artist magazine.
Ben Manchipp
A professional Art School teacher culminating in becoming Head of School, Ben has academic
and practical expertise. He exhibits regularly with The Royal Institute of Painters in
Watercolours at The Mall Galleries, The Royal Society of Marine Artists and The New English Art
Club. His paintings were chosen for the Singer and Friedlander Sunday Times Watercolour
Exhibition. He won the Classic Boat Award at the Annual exhibition of the Royal Society of
Marine Artists. He also won the Rowland Hilder Award at the Royal Institute of Painters in
Watercolour. He was a featured artist in the editorial "The British Landscape" for the magazine
International Artist, who have also published his work in a new book with the title "Watercolour
techniques for painting Skies and Clouds". Some of his Venice series and sketch books were
shown as a step by step article in The Artist. The magazine Artists and Illustrators also
published his working methods in three issues. Available now from Ben or Teaching Art are two
instructional DVDs, each with an accompanying Workshop Book with the title "Be a Better
Painter". He exhibits with other selected galleries and has a Summer Exhibition at the Denbies
Gallery in June and July every year.
