In your group you will be expected to research and write a paper on the metric system
which should include and not be limited to the following:
 Complete history on how it came to be
 Explanation on how the units were derived (what are they based on)
 Explanation of the efforts made by people in America to switch to the
metric system
Your paper must fit the following criteria:
 APA formatting for all sources and citations
o It’s not that different from MLA, but you need to learn how to do it before
college
 All information must be properly cited
o FAILURE to cite even ONE piece of information will result in an automatic
zero on the paper
 The paper may be resubmitted with proper citations added,
however, there will be a 5% penalty for each resubmission
 Times New Roman, Size 12 Font, Double Spaced, 1 inch margins
