Summary of Friday Activities
Roundup Registration will open at 12:00 until 5:00 pm in the hotel foyer. Hospitality room will be open in the 10th Floor
Presidential Suite from 1:00 until 5:00 pm. The Repair Tent will be open in the parking lot from 12:00 until 5:00 pm.
Welcome to “A” Fashion boutique. Once again we’re offering a “NO” fee event to sell your items. Crafters are also
welcome if it’s era related. Just check the box on your registration form to receive your inventory sheet and more
instructions. Drop off your items in the San Jose Room between 9:30 to 11:00 am. Our Fashion Boutique will be open
from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. You might just find that special item you have been looking for. Pick up is Sunday at 1:00 pm.
Stop by the Pick-A-Prize in the Sacramento Room from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Take a chance on all your favorites. Tickets
available at door.
Welcome Fashion Entrants. We are looking forward to having you participate. We will be having a meeting at 4:00 pm in
the Napa Room. There is a small fee of $10.00. Your instructions will be mailed to you. Be sure to check your
registration for “Fashion Participant”.
The Modesto Area A’s would like to invite everyone to our Dessert Welcome Party from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, in the Grand Ball
Room. You will select a dessert from a selection of four. In addition coffee, tea and a no host bar will be provided.
Prior, go enjoy a nice dinner in the hotel or a surrounding restaurant. Upon returning join us for an evening of relaxation
and visiting with old and new friends. Remember, it’s been said, “the meal isn’t over until dessert has been served”. The
Hubley event has been scheduled to coincide with the Welcome Party. This is a great time for those who are unfamiliar
or have never attended a Hubley race to see what’s happening and join the enthusiasm.
Dust off your Hubley’s and rev up your engines. The race is on! Check-in will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. This event
will be run as single-elimination with ONLY pre-registered participants allowed. (See Registration page 8) Need to be
present to race! Award Presentation will immediately follow the races.

Hubley Race Rules:
1. Scale Model, Gabriel, and Hubley Model A Fords are eligible. There are 7 body styles: station wagon,
coupe, roadster, pickup, and Phaeton, Victoria and Town sedan.
2. You may paint the cars any color you want or leave them unpainted.
3. Maximum weight of the car ready to race is 1 pound 5 ounces. As some scales may differ, a small
amount of variation will be allowed at any particular race with permission of the race judge.
4. Free or fixed steering may be used.
5. Weights, if you add them, must be secured, not loose inside the car.
6. You may file smooth, but not alter or modify the axles, axle screws, wheels, or tires. For example
you may not put in bearings or use a different type of axle screw. The original axle screws found
over the years in Hubley, Gabriel, and Scale Models are fillister head 4-40 machine screws, fillister head
4-40 self-taping machine screws, and fillister head #4 sheet metal screws. These are the only three
types of screws allowed.
7. Once the car is weighed in, the race judges will handle the cars on the track. Cars will be checked into
an impound area and will, from that point on until the end of the derby, be handled by race personnel
only. (Owner may make simple repairs between races, but races will not be delayed).
8. You may use a dry lubricant such as graphite on the wheels or none at all because wet oily lubricant
drips on the track.
9. One entrant, one car per registrant name, who must also be present to be eligible to race
10. The judge may ask the owner to remove one or more axle screw(s) and wheel for inspection before
the race.
Winners are determined by the average time of three races on different lanes. Awards are given for first,
second, and third places in each age group.
Decisions of the race personnel will be final. The top 3 places in each group might be asked to remove a
wheel and screw for inspection.
While every effort will be made to assure the safety of the cars, the committee cannot be responsible for
damage.
This area is to record your own car times.
