Respect Life Corner:
Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord - April 8-9, 2017
Entering. We hear proclaimed again today the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem,
his city and place of destiny. He did this with courage and conviction. He did not
let waving branches turn his head, change his mind. We do our entering today into Holy Week. We face, with Jesus the Christ, our own destiny.
How can I let people's praise and adulation not "go to my
head"?
How can I face what I must face with courage and conviction?
How will I be at prayer and reflection these holy days?
Good Friday Collection: Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the
Holy Land. Your support helps the church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education. It also helps to
preserve the sacred shrines. The wars, unrest and instability have
been especially hard on Christians. In these times of crisis, the Pontifical Good Friday collection provides humanitarian aid to refugees.
Sunday Mornings -Bible Study
The St. Dominic Spiritual Formation committee: This Sunday morning
starting at 9:15am, April 9th, 30th, May 7th, and 14th in the multi-purpose room in
the school (band room), we'll switch gears and move into bible study presented by
Dustin and Lynn McSparin which should be both interesting and enjoyable.
See you there ... invite your friends! Coffee and Donuts provided!
Each session is independent so make one, two or all and learn about our book of
faith (THE BIBLE).
youth Ministry is sponsoring an Easter Egg hunt after the Liturgies on April
16 for all children age 0 to 10. Visit and take photos with the Easter Bunny. The
hunt at St. Dominic will be on the lawn by the St. Dominic statue after the 8 am
and 11 am liturgies. The hunt at St. Augustine will be on the playground. In case
of rain, the hunts will be held in the gym.
Catholic Service and Ministry Appeal: Thank you to the 138 households that
have already pledged to support the mission of the Church to teach, preach, minister
and serve in the name of Jesus through their financial support of The Catholic Service
Ministry Appeal. So far $21,603.00 has been pledged. If you have not yet responded,
please make every effort to do so. Our goal this year for this campaign is $20,450.00.
