Animal #1: Find the Crayfish
That nasty Sloth Cloud is trying to
convince kids that learning about
wetland animals is too much work!
We’ll show him, right Kimma?
Sure thing, Spec! We’ll start in the What is
an Animal? Exhibit. Find the crayfish in a
case close to the beginning of the exhibit!
See the hard shell it has to protect it from
its enemies? Other types of animals use a
hard shell for armor too!
Animal #6: Find the Whooping Crane
Here’s another kind of crane!
Kimma, you’re really worried about
this one. Why’s that?
Because the poor Whooping Crane almost
went extinct not very long ago! But they’re
on their way back. One of the displays says
that a certain number of cranes migrate
between refuges in Alberta and Texas.
What’s that number?
What’s the animal with a shell immediately
to the left of the crayfish in the exhibit?

Animal #2: Find the Dragonfly
Animal #5: Find the Sandhill Crane
I’ve heard that dragonflies can fly at speeds
of up to almost 30 miles per hour!
Hey Kimma, isn’t this one of your
favorite animals?
That’s really fast! They can fly away as soon
as they see enemies come near! I bet Sloth
Cloud can’t even think that fast!
Yes, because cranes are so graceful! One of
the flip panels says what Sandhill Cranes
like to eat. Can you find it?
What important organs that detect
predators and find food cover almost all of
the dragonfly’s head?
Besides seeds, grain, and berries, what small
animals do cranes like to eat?
Don’t stop now!

Can you take a look at the flip panels to see
what dragonfly babies are called?
Wow, Spec, I had no idea!
Look at the bullfrog in the exhibit. Can you
guess what type of habitat it’s living in?
I’ll bet he does! The bullfrog also has
coloring that helps it blend into its
surroundings and webbed feet for swimming. It’s perfectly adapted to its habitat!
Hey, you see that? Dragonflies have a
different name when they’re babies!
Animal #3: Find the Dragonfly
I bet Sloth Cloud wishes he
could hibernate all winter like
the bullfrog does!
