Plan on coming – and pray for favorable weather that day. 2017 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL PLEASE PRAY For the sick of our parish: (Names can be found on our bulletin board) For our Service Men and Women: (Please call the Rectory Office to submit names) Thanks to so many parishioners who have made generous pledges and gifts, we are getting closer to our goal. In fact, the most recent report (June 7) shows: 282 donors, $39,554.00 pledged (which is over goal), $11,451.00 paid, 109.53% of goal pledged, 31.71% of goal paid. Keep up the great work! Pledge forms are still available at the rectory. May God bless our efforts. Please be a part of our success story. From the Pastor’s Desk – Luis Romero ~ St. Leo Blanca Huerta ~ St. Leo The wedding will be HERE on June 24, 2017 at 3:30 pm Donald Remache ~ St. Leo Kathy Sanchez Remache ~ St. Leo The wedding will be HERE on July 1, 2017 at 3:30 pm Like the mystery of the Trinity, the real presence of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist can never be fully understood, but can only be believed. . COMING IN JULY! OUR NEXT PARISH BLOOD DRIVE In cooperation with the New York Blood Center, our parish will host a Blood Donation Drive on Sunday, July 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please go to our website for more information and who can donate. Today, Holy Mother Church invites all her children to honor the Most Holy Body and Blood of the Lord in this feast popularly known by its Latin name - Corpus Christi. “Because Christ himself is present in the sacrament of the altar, he is to be honored with the worship of adoration.” par. 1418, Catechism of the Catholic Church. If we regularly come to Mass on Sunday, the Eucharist, also called the Mass, is familiar to us. But as with many things, our familiarity with it may lead to a diminishment of our respect for and appreciation of this great gift. So today we have an opportunity to heighten our awareness of this “memorial of Christ’s Passover, that is, of the work of salvation accomplished by the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, a work made present by the liturgical action.” Par. 1409, CCC. Let us all worship Christ, our eternal high priest of the New Covenant. May I wish all the fathers of our parish a blessed Father’s Day today. And may the example of Blessed Joseph, the husband of Mary, the Mother of God, inspire you and intercede for you. May God bless all fathers and all of you. – Fr. Hoppe. GENERATIONS of FAITH This Capital Campaign – with a five-year redemption period – can be a success because of our faithful and generous parishioners. Would you like to join them and make a pledge? The funds generated by this capital campaign will help us to meet the costs of parish projects we are committed to doing: 1) Installing a divider into Msgr. Barretta Hall to create more meeting space for groups; 2) waterproofing part of the church’s foundation; 3) improving the sound-system in the church (already partially finished); 4) replace the two boilers in the school (completed); 5) make needed repairs to the chapel on 52nd Ave (100% complete). As you can see, all the projects with the exception of #1 and #2 are finished or partially finished (we could not wait five years!). But we are really depending on the funds we hope to realize by Generations of Faith ($250,000.00) to help pay for them. We owe it to each other to participate as best we can. Pledge forms can be obtained in the sacristy or the rectory. READINGS FOR THE WEEK Parish Food Pantry Our Food Pantry is depleted and needs to be re-supplied. This is a wonderful opportunity for “sharing your bread with the hungry” (Isaiah 58:7). Please remember to bring some non-perishable food with you when you come to Mass next week. Thank you. Rice, beans, cereal, soup, pasta, baby food are all needed items, as long as they are non-perishable. We have placed a blue tub in the church vestibule to accept your donations. Jesus tells us: “Then the king will say…Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you…for I was hungry and you gave me food…” (Matt 25:34-35).
